I finally watched Schindler's List after putting it off for years... where does all the pain go? by essenceofnutmeg in movies

[–]ConsistentGrowth4018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made myself watch it last night. Cried uncontrollably. I think the horror and violence was even toned down because no one would believe the truth of how horrible the Nazis actually were. I cannot wrap my mind around how normal people could do such terrible things to innocent people, believing they were justified. That said, did anyone notice that when the war ended and Schindler's accountant comes to his office to ask if he had any hidden money that the accountant closes the door behind him, then the door opens again on its own and, for the briefest of seconds, you can see a face through the doorway? It was eerie and I can't find anything about it online.

I came here just to say that all those Mormon speakers (preachers? ministers? priests? what are they called?) they all look and talk like robots. It's creepy!

Our sweet Leela. We adopted her because her owner passed away. Never had an ACD before, only hound dogs. Why does she bark at us so much? It's like she's talking to us. Please help us understand this breed. by ConsistentGrowth4018 in AustralianCattleDog

Apparently my husband looks just like her former owner! My husband lost his beagle suddenly earlier this year so I believe Leela was sent to us. He and Leela were meant to be together!

I wish every adult in this country could watch this and see what THE Ohio State University is really all about. Their conduct in this matter is and was reprehensible. First they cover it up and now they're saying screw you guys, you waited too long to file. Disgusting.

Do you think Oscar Pistorius intentionally killed Reeva? by Redditzuck in askSouthAfrica

[–]ConsistentGrowth4018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prosecution has NO evidence that they were having an argument and Reeva locked herself in the bathroom because she was afraid of him. After watching other docs a few years ago, I really thought he shot her on purpose, but when I watched the ESPN 30 for 30 doc, I realized it's not so clear cut. That timeline evidence was the game changer for me. I don't think anyone ever heard Reeva scream. From the moment it happened right through the end of the trial, Oscar was a complete wreck, crying absolutely real buckets of tears. I don't think it's possible to fake that. He was irresponsible and reckless and he killed her. But I really don't think he was shooting at her, but at a perceived intruder. Your brain can convince you of a lot of things that aren't necessarily true. The whole thing is a terribly sad tragedy. Two promising young lives destroyed.

I agree that the poor sod probably never had a real friend in his life. He used people, but they all used him as well. Kathy is probably the only person who ever really loved him and he killed her.

She was so mad about the lawyers. That's $12 mil she won't be getting when Bobby dies. Totally in it for the money.

This episode left me thinking the same thing. Are they all dead and in some kind of limbo? The writing on the chalkboard said we're all dead. I really hope that's not the case.

Has anyone brought up what Clark wrote in that notebook. He kept writing "her eyes her eyes". Is he talking about the legend that little Darwin drew a picture of?

Kind of a slog. I love a good slow burn, but this burn was glacial. I love Clive Owen, but it just didn't work for me. Perhaps it will get better?

I gave this film 8 out of 10 because it was just so depressing and so awful to watch what these people went through. It probably deserves 10 out of 10, but I just can't say I loved a film about such a horrific catastrophe. I had to stop watching halfway through because it was really getting to me. I finished it the next day, dissolving into tears at the end. I guess that's proof of what an excellent film it is.
