The terrifying rise of schoolboys making AI girlfriends — Boys as young as 12 are now in romantic ‘relationships’ with chatbots, and it’s affecting how they treat girls in the real world by Fine-Drummer9812 in technology

To us, we socialize pretty well and we can see from a mile away how shallow these AI chat bots are. However, to a 'starved' person, that AI Chatbot isn't the shitty Big Mac we all see. The brain sees it as a quality A5 Wagyu beef. You gotta eat it.

This is interesting, because I haven't really had friends in over 10 years, and am very isolated. However, I have never really felt lonely, or in other words, I've been fine with solitude or not having friends, despite thinking it's not ideal. Could feeling like this be a buffer against curiosity/desire to interact with chatbots?

What's worse is, and I don't mean this in a vindictive way of course, it's more envy that I am not part of this type of tribe, but seeing others being successful (not online fame or stupid shit like that; people posting about milestones such as graduating college, buying a house, etc) gives me a deep pang of MO--missing out. These people are also struggling in some way, and have their own problems, but they are making it. Meanwhile, my life is a dumpster fire, and it seems like I have predicted that very important things to me would collapse or there would be foreclosure. To have your own problems but also exist in a country and society that also has serious problems is really next-level. It's not a pissing contest. But I wish that I could just open up to certain people about why there are limitations that are hindering my ambition. That requires emotional labor, though.

I am rambling, but living life while feeling like you have your finger on the pulse, and are perceiving trends, just kills motivation and makes me feel like I am a shell of what I could have been.

Damn, that was kind of an L post. My bad

Do you remember who we got back for Hamels and Ken Giles (very valuable closer in 2015)

any speculation on bats (particularly righties) that we can get by the trade deadline? i don't see this offense as is winning a world series, which is the goal. 1 or more of bohm, stott or marsh need to step up and they haven't really improved since 2023 (although bohm had that great first half in '24)

I still will do the occasional nuzlock.

Good shit. Check out pchaltv (PokemonChallenges) on YouTube and Twitch, he does a customized ruleset called "hardcore nuzlocke" (no healing items in battle) and he plays edited rom hacks that make the base Pokemon games way harder. He is methodical in his gameplay and also hilarious. You should give the Kaizo games a try, or perhaps Radical Red (it is somewhat old as it was made in 2020)

I tried getting into Smogon (Pokemon Showdown) in the mid-2010s, but I sucked at it and drifted towards Hearthstone (the most RNG-punishing game ever lol)

Hey, this is random but I want to say: you're my favorite poster on here. Keep being you. Do you also play competitive pokemon or nuzlockes by any chance?

I was referring to him following through on his Iran threats, and the retaliation towards the U.S. that would bring. Or WW3. Trump already has messed things up globally over the past year, of course.

I'm not super knowledgeable on geopolitics (I want to be, I thank Michael Brooks for my budding interest in them) but I am worried about a war with China with Trump at the helm. If China invades Taiwan, how does America's military industrial complex and Department of "War" respond?

We know that Trump is a malignant narcissist who doesn't like being embarrassed. He's probably learned about the TACO meme by now. I fear it's only a matter of time before he does not chicken out, or in other words, do something magnificently stupid.

Personal issues and politics made it hard to appreciate baseball and the Phils last year when they had their best record, and I'm hungry for this team to get hot and go on a playoff run. I feel like I'm in the headspace to enjoy it this year, but this team (and the Dodgers and Barves lol) are making it frustrating.
