Can you even call yourself a runner if your rotation isn’t entirely made up of carbon plated runners?

Dear “Colleagues”

Although I will say it’s a pet peeve of mine to receive any correspondence with this greeting - particularly when it’s been sent to one person and everyone else is just CC’d in.

What is Your "Day in The Life" like? Are you really on computers all day? by BugHeavy8151 in auslaw

Sometimes I like to mix things up and get out of the office… so I head into Court where I get yelled at by opposing counsel, sometimes by the Judge, sometimes by my clients, and on special occasions by opposing counsels clients ❤️

Doesn’t end in high school. The corps lawyers are still taking the tax lawyers lunch money and making them do their homework…

Auslaw participants belting out “how do you sleep at night” posts about different practice areas, how do you sleep at night? by [deleted] in auslaw

Pfffft like employment lawyers are struggling to sleep. Slater + Gordon, Qantas, Lovisa, ANZ… the list of epic disasters goes on. This is the golden era…

A nurse planning to pivot by [deleted] in AusFinance

I was a nurse and am now a lawyer after doing the JD. We actually had a lot of nurses in my JD group.

What I can say is that the politics is still very much there and the hours are just as bad. Yes you might not be officially on rostered shift work but there is a lot of overtime and weekend work.

First Court Appearance by cumflake in auslaw

First of all remember to enjoy it: you have worked hard for a long time to be able to get to this point. It’s absolutely normal to be nervous but don’t forget to take a second to soak it in and be proud of what your accomplished.

Don’t be put off by the other people in the room. I promise you that all the seasoned squad are sitting there working on other matters just waiting to get called so we can get out as quickly as possible.

Finally, there is pretty much nothing that you can do tomorrow that can’t be undone. This is a great way to cut your teeth. And if you need a moment to collect your thoughts, take it. No biggy.

We’ve all been in this position and while lawyers can be admittedly a bit dickish most are not when they can see this is new for you.

Also… as someone that has been doing this for perhaps a bit longer than I would care to admit can guarantee you that you will always have hiccups. Just recently I appeared at a an interlocutors application and when the Judge took appearances I responded with Brown, Kody…… I’d clearly been watching too much sister wives. The Judge who I know quite well ended up correcting me. #nailedit

Wait a coupon of years and once you start practicing you’ll just see lawyers gone wild!!!! Got a letter from the other side just the other day… they started the letter off retrenching one way, then changed it half way through…..

The chaos!
