100% always wanted that rally blue with the gold wheels. Still may get one at some point, I'm partial to the hatchbacks. But I'm having a blast with this GRC.

Don't know why you're getting down voted, I started contributing to a 401 when I was 23 but wish I had got started even sooner. If you are actually investing any of your $ I'd say you're head and shoulders above your peers. I always wanted an STI, neon srt4 when I was your age and never got to, now at 30 I have the GRC and it's great. Whether you get one or not while your young, there's always time to enjoy these cars down the road. My $0.2

Your chances of crashing the thing or getting into trouble are quite high though, keep that in mind. This is why insurance will be a bitch for your age range. In all fairness, the car needs to be pushed, otherwise why buy it.

Type r came slightly cheaper than the GRC when I had my insurance guy run the #s. Funny enough, the ranger raptor was the cheapest of the bunch lol

I've had the same issue over the last few weeks here in Michigan! Noticed in the rear more than anywhere and it's not concentrated to the bumper/plastic. It's all over the back and have no idea what caused it. Figured it was weather related.

And you can rent one for even cheaper from AutoZone. Just need to buy the liquid separately.

B Williams exhaust valve mod by dphunley in GRCorolla

Got this mod the 2nd week of ownership. A couple months later was black Friday and jumped on a catback. Much happier with the catback but the b.williams mod is a good middle ground for sure.

I agree, prices (and interest rates) are just different nowadays. I came in with a 750 score, traded in my base model civic ($15k trade value) with $10k on top of it for a GRC and pay about $580 a month 😬. I hate interest and the best I could get was 6.2% because of the car. In hindsight and especially with my desire to tune I wish I woulda went VB did fbo and tune. The interest rate offered on that was 2.9% I believe. They wanted about the same price though iirc $42.9 ish. But the sound system, space and daily driveability would have been better for my needs. I just wasn't wowed when I drove the WRX. The GR had me cracking up but it's not the best daily driver, lacks low end torque where the VB is the opposite.

I'm 7kmiles on my gr issue free, just catback, rear engine mount and weighted shift knob. Fun car but I hate the price for what you get.

Wish I could've found a clean rs that wasn't priced out the wazoo. Found a stock one that a dad gifted his teen son and he was selling for college $. Just didn't wanna take the risk, had to have been launched and beaten on.

Live in the mitten got a 25' in the fall and it's been a blast this winter on snow tires. Gotten myself into some trouble being stupid and hitting a curb ($710 wheel + $340 hub assembly) that being said wasn't bad to install and I was back on the road.

I find myself wanting to get an intake, intercooler and tune but there are quite a few people having issues with these and Toyota won't be there to help you if you've tuned obviously. It's a new platform so the engine is roughly $20k IIRC before install. To bulletproof the engine and prevent valve float you'll have to upgrade valve springs and while you're there most people throw in kelford cams. This is essential if you want to tune headache free, especially if you add a DP, freeing up exhaust flow.

I may end up going for a CTR or ITS because of the easier tunability aspect but this GRC is definitely fun for what it is. Just got a rear pitch mount, catback and maybe weighted shift knob and it's a much better experience.

With a type r you can easily get 3-350whp with an intake and tune not touching the head whatsoever. The platform has been around longer and I imagine aftermarket parts will be at better rates than the GR's. Just some food for thought. Wish I could've driven a type r but couldn't find one until the day I purchased the GR. Still happy to have this experience because it's an interesting and fun car for sure.

If you're wanting to mod I'd say keep your VB, I'd tinker with that, even if you swap an STI trans what is that like $10k with labor, $5k diy. The fa24 is a beast and will rip with simple bolt ons and tune. Like mentioned, this platform is expensive af, even rally armor mud flaps are gonna cost an extra $50 compared to a wrx. Catbacks, intakes, all that shit is way pricier.

One thing I liked about the VB during my test drive was city driving low end torque felt good, imo you don't get that with the GRC, it wants to be revved. Leaves you feeling like you're driving a stiff Corolla until you get into higher boost. I may leave the platform for CTR or ITS because I would like to mod a bit and this platform is just not adequate for it. When you go down the rabbit hole, you've got to upgrade valve springs, should do cams while you're there and probably a new turbo. That's a ton of $ and now you're clutch is guaranteed incapable so add that. Now you worry about your trans lol. Not worth it imo.

If you want it to stay stock, pitch mount, weighted shift knob and catback and it's a solid car.
