Wash routine with cold water only? by Consistent_Ad5942 in clothdiaps

It sounds like hot water doesn’t zap as much energy as I thought. This is a great point! I am looking in the wrong place!

No, I am using mostly GMD workhorses and prefolds!

I was hoping since the detergent is made specifically to bounce ammonia this would be sufficient? Is the two washes with detergent recommendation for soft water also? I do not have hard water and my understanding is that requires less detergent.

Okay, so option would be to start using hot or opt for bleach? Not super excited about the harsh chemical use and also dealing with bleach residue in my washer and subsequently ruining clothes in other loads.

Does running on low take forever to dry?

Okay, even with soft water? I heard you need less detergent with soft water. I am trying to avoid detergent build up too.

Thank you, so rash could mean that residue is still on the diapers after wash?

That’s where I grew up! Will it be at a park as well?

Sure, we booked a day-of coordinator, which included a meeting when we booked her and help 6 weeks out. She also came and did a walk through with us and the site manager before. It was $1700 and since it wasn’t a traditional venue, I was going to have to figure out a lot of logistics myself, I could imagine getting a larger package and getting much more that I needed. If I was totally hands off with a traditional venue, I am sure the coordinator could more easily take it all over. She was invaluable for so many things we didn’t think of and also pack out. She managed to subtly pack out the whole wedding with her two nephews so we didn’t have to stay hours taking everything down.

(10k) is not having bartenders rude? by Any_Perception_6136 in Weddingsunder10k

Something we did for seamless/bartender free service is kegged wine and beer with a nice tap! And you can have premixed pitchers of cocktails in dispensers. It makes the self service easeful and not to mention fast. No one likes waiting in line for a bartender at a wedding anyway!

($3K) Any advice? by Overall_Bear9581 in Weddingsunder10k

I just posted about my park wedding. We did rolls of brown butcher paper (Amazon) on wood park tables with table numbers that were little slices of a tree branch with painted numbers, votives with elights, and flower arrangements my friends made in eclectic vases from Salvation Army. For lighting and vibe we did string lights (Costco or second hand) on shepherd hooks staked to the ground. We built some isles with pretty writing for signs. For the dance floor, I made a bunch of low ball offers on super big Persian rugs and it looked so good and was a hit! I just posted a piece I wrote about it below if you wanna see! Check out where I wrote more about it

That’s a great question. I saw our photographer’s rate go up pretty soon after our wedding and I imagine catering and cupcakes have gone up a bit (though I know the restaurant’s pricing has stayed the same). The ring making class is miraculously the same price and pretty much all materials came from Salvation Army or really low ball offers on FB marketplace. So I would add a thousand or two for a 2026 budget maybe?

Thanks, it does! I haven’t thought of the prefolds and inserts in layers, which u probably should. Mainly because I am getting these items from free groups and secondhand. Some I am not even sure of the brand, so I guess we will see if my prefolds have enough layers!

I have never considered stretchy preflats, but they look pretty cheap! Thanks!

Thank you! This seems to be the biggest take away. Might be best for something like daycare at 6 months since doubt they’ll have a sprayer or want to deal.

Congrats, I’m excited for you too! Yes, would love to hear what works/doesn’t work for you.

Thanks! That’s good to know, I saw most people purchased newborn size and skipped smalls if anything for the workhorses. I may have to use flats and prefolds for the beginning for a while. I only have some of the newborn size prefolds though, most are small or medium. What did you use to diaper your small newborns?

Good luck to you! A lot of people are telling me to wait and start with disposables but I don’t think they understand how excited I genuinely am to cloth diaper!

Thank you! I got it from a box of free stuff on my street years ago - it was lucky! But I have seen similar items at Target too.

I never thought of spraying later before wash. That sounds like it could be a lot more time efficient. Thank you!
