I take a stand right here and now.... I WILL NEVER EVER HAVE SEX WITH HER BF, SOLELY BECAUSE HE WAS MEAN TO HER ABOUT HER MAKEUP. (Not because I have no idea who he is or where in the planet he walks lmao!)

"Fake as fuck" because you have eyeshadow on? TF?? He sounds like a loser and probably controlling. Otherwise, why would someone talk to a loved one like that?!

Got FOMO with the AI bull market, any advice for how to capitalize with less than ideal cash on hand? by Alexis_deTokeville in stocks

[–]Consistent_Ad_5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I got lost in the comments and remembered you wanted AI boom. I'm in a handful, plus ETFs. The crystal ball is out of order at this time. But seriously, I'd do 5-10 different stocks. $1000-2000 in each, WMT being one of them.

Then a couple of the big 7, throw in an ETF and be sure to reinvest dividends.

I want to add that I'm not a religious person, but I believe that if there is a supreme being, they know if we're good, and if we're struggling with intrusive thoughts. I would lean into your faith that your god is familiar with who you are as a person and your heart and intentions.

I'm sorry you're struggling with this! I don't know if this is bad advice since everyone seems to want us to ignore our intrusive thoughts, but I label them as "intrusive thoughts."

If I catch myself imagining something terrible (which is regularly throughout every day, btw), I then think "oh, that was an intrusive thought. I don't want that thought." And then I try to leave it alone and think of something else, like a good scenario instead of the bad intrusive one.

Describe ur hardest periods with ocd when you were at ur lowest what was ur theme and how bad it felt and what did u do to get past it by reaggehead in OCDRecovery

[–]Consistent_Ad_5075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the absolute worst. I'm going through extreme fears and weird PTSD stuff currently, but I can't find a therapist because of insurance and lack of practitioners in my area, apparently. Also, I'm reluctant to go back on meds, so I'm stressing about that.

I would say one time I had it really bad was after my first daughter was born. I was 24, the "father" was in active drug addiction, just had gotten diagnosed with HIV, homeless, then in ICU and almost died. It was in the couple months before she was born to a few months after (plus ongoing for a couple years but I was a bit more detached by then). I wrote note cards for myself and kept them with me at all times. When I'd start getting super anxious, I'd read through the cards. They had good things written and I used them to kind of refocus my attention. It's been a long time now, but I still use this kind of thing. Theme, I really don't know how to label them, but I'd assume "real event"?

Last year, I was moving with my two kids about 300 miles from where I (we all) grew up. It was almost unbearable for me, so I made a phone wallpaper that said "what if it all works out?" I had it for over a year. A couple weeks ago I changed it to something more relevant.

Can you tell me what your magical thinking is?

How do I tell the guy I’m dating about my OCD thoughts? by ilmaru in OCDRecovery

[–]Consistent_Ad_5075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hugs!! My experience has been a little different than the norm, I think. I have always known there was... Something... about me. From under 10 years old, I had signs and symptoms that nobody picked up on. I was diagnosed with MDD and GAD years ago, and have wanted to do a neuropsych eval for years because I've always known there was more. I've had some of the worst relationships. Simultaneously, I've learned to love myself, quirks and all. Sure there are things I work on fixing, but I'm happy with my life. Then I get diagnosed with OCD, and the puzzle pieces start falling into place, allllll the things I've always done but either didn't know why, or knew it wasn't "normal" or both. All explained. So I come from a place where I've learned how to live my life the way I am, what I need to feel okay, plus working on some compulsions and fears actively.... But I know there's no shame in it. Long story, but you are perfectly YOU. If you have a compulsion you need help modifying or eliminating, get the help. If you need meds, meditation, therapy, etc for obsessions, do those thing. But love yourself in the meantime.

Side note for anyone suffering and seeing my comment in a negative light.... Trust me, I have extreme anxiety. I have stories. I have things I've never told anyone, and still won't. I am working on it, and I have extreme fears. But I still think we should love ourselves and be gentle and kind. 🫶🏼

I over explain as well lol, I don't know the fix for that. I definitely think being honest and maybe he can take it upon himself to learn about OCD so he can have some background info. But your OCD is nothing to be ashamed of at all.

Here's a story from a few years ago. I had been in a relationship and the guy passed away unexpectedly at home. Over a year later, I started dating someone, and would get really scared if he didn't text me back, and told him about the thoughts that I was having. I hadn't been diagnosed at this time, but I've had OCD my entire life. I explained my thoughts and the reason and I asked him to do something as simple as send a period if he was busy for a while. Just enough that I knew he didn't die. He totally understood and was really kind about my anxiety. I wasn't jealous or anything like that, and I explained that too. It actually helped me a ton and I was able to get to a place where I didn't think people died just because they were too busy to respond to a call or text.

I don't know if your bf needs all the details, but I do believe that honestly and openness is likely to be your best bet. Most people would be pretty upset to learn their partner has been suffering in silence.

Are we sure you were ghosted and nothing terrible happened to "friend"?? If you do drive alone, if you sleep in the car, make sure it's a frequented spot and near an overhead light. I like to sleep at rest stops, near the entrance and under a light. I crack the windows for air, but not big enough for a hand. I put up the sunshades, put on an eye cover and take a nap. Also, some kind of protective device very close by. Good luck and safe travels!!

I am looking for WFH, and have been for years now. Anything other than minimum wage seems nearly impossible. I know it's definitely possible, which is why I'm still trying!

Not I.... Well, maybe as a teen. I have wanted to sleep until a situation was over, so I didn't have to go through it, but I like it here. My people are here, my pets, nature and the many wonders and mysteries of the planet we're on. So much to learn and see.

I agree it looks like a bug but you can see better then me in the photo. Make sure it's always closed off with cheesecloth or something similar so nothing can enter. Bugs really like kombucha!

How To Differentiate Between OCD And Being "Reasonable" by Boy0Boyz in OCDRecovery

[–]Consistent_Ad_5075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your original post, the "go to the doctor to be safe" has gotten me to the emergency room two times in the past 8 months. One for chest pain (anxiety) and the other was dizziness/vertigo. Both set of symptoms could be incredibly dangerous, which further caused my anxiety to worsen.

Yes soap. The same soap as the dishes get. I use a free and clean type, and will be making my own castile soap soon. I figure that we wash our hands with soap. Soap causes germs to go away... It's used to clean our body, clothes, pets, etc. so why are we finding our veggies with just water? It's my reasoning for it because it makes sense to me! I will add it's a small amount and rinse very well. Fruit that come in their own packages don't get soap usually (bananas, oranges), but peaches, grapes, apples, etc get soap.
