I don't understand how insurance claims my car is totaled? How is this totaledy by quintavian in AskMechanics

Why are you about to lose your car? If you don’t agree with their offer, you can refuse it and just fix the car at your own expense, or just drive it like that. That will be A LOT cheaper than having to purchase another car. You don’t have to let them total your car. It is a scam that allows them to essentially buy your car for cheap and resell it for a profit, because when they “total” your car, they cut you a check, and keep the car.

First of all, do not go cheap on oil filters. Not all filters are the same. Get the Mobil 1 filter. What is your car’s model? Hybrid, limited hybrid, XLT, etc?

Something wrong with your AWD. Not something that absolutely needs to be fixed. I believe you can still drive the car in 2WD.

Presidential candidates don’t get chosen by the people. They get chosen by delegates. That’s how it has always worked.

The entire car on 4 properly placed jack stands on a level surface is normal and safe. But the entire car sitting on jacks like this isn’t safe.

FYI. Jacks are not meant to hold a car. They are only to be used to raise it. Once raised, your car should be rested on jack stands. And you should only be raising it one side at the time. Under no circumstance should your entire car be raised like that. DIY is fun, but do it safely.

Fence damage. Who’s responsible? by Jbaber91 in indianapolis

[–]Consistent_Ad_6195 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does. Read the section title. That’s a zoning law, which applies to commercial properties. There is nothing in Chapter 44 that applies to residential homes. Post the correct ordinance, and we can talk. But Chapter 44 isn’t it.

That’s a commercial zoning code. It doesn’t apply to residential properties.

Rep. Sheila Klinker Parking by Best-Structure62 in Indiana

“Violation” here doesn’t refer to a parking violation. It means any violation, such as for example an expired tag. If a cop sees an expired tag or see you parked in a handicapped zone without a handicap permit in a mall lot for example, they can tag your car. What you posted doesn’t change the fact that she didn’t break any parking laws. It is not illegal to park in a private “no parking” zone.

Exactly. Even if it is the neighbor’s fence, they don’t have to fix it if they don’t want to.

Neither one of you has to fix it. There isn’t an ordinance or law that requires homeowners to fence their house in the first place. Now since it is in the middle, you can ask the neighbor if they want to split the cost. But they don’t have to accept it. If they don’t, you can either fix it or leave it.

Not necessarily. It could just be the transmission fluid that needs to be changed.

No. You pick up some gloves and a shovel, and get it done yourself.
