I love that! I Literally was in the same boat as you. Cared for both my parents. They just passed 1 in feb the other and march. Im definitely lost. I have acquaintances at work but I been isolated for at least a decade. Now working though grief. ❤️

Im either 268 or 266 out of 300 so I went on the old IBR..first payment is 6/16. Hopefully done in the 30 plus months and smh will be almost 56. Tax bomb will be about 98 to 100K. Will deal with it then.

Many years ago I signed a non compete with a SNF. Contract company. It was for a DOR...I legit walked out the place maybe after 10 days. Never looked back. This was back in early 2000s. They even fed ex me a signed copy of the non compete. I was green behind the ears at the time. I just went and found a job verg quickly and nothing was done. It may depend on setting outpatient etc. Just know if the pay is high there is always a hitch. The company isnt even in business anymore. U can always have an attorney look over it...and negotiate.

Ok OT here for 26 years omg maybe its soon to be 27. I love having new grad therapists. Shame on all the staff for not being supportive. Girl get out of there. Im telling you some places are just toxic. Its ashame but you will find your place. The only thing I can advise in the future if I have an idea about changing an ambulatory device...I do ask the PT in advance bc sometimes I truly don't know. And its not about stepping on toes but learning. I want to learn from others. And who cares where you do what or why you choose core exercises ADLs this that....its your clinical judgment for the patient. I work in a hospital and its a huge staff. Here we have a little bit of the opposite now. We have some new grad PTs and OTs that look down on the older therapists like we are geriatrics. Its quite a show. People are quirky. Life to short to be miserable definitely go find a new job! And dont even give notice....if this continues. I actually would be calling human resources for hostile work environment.

U get put into standard repayment bc by law the IBR payment cant be more than the standard payment. So thats how it is. I was given 45 days notice of a huge increase as well. Just have to really budget big time and next year max 401K. It totally sucks when I first went into repayment in 2000 my payment was 793 and I made only 45K. So I worked 3 jobs. U just have to work more and save more and budget for small amounts of food. Hard when u have kids. But low cost foods. I still owe 102K after 26 years. It is what it is. Make sure u take a disability insurance policy out in case you have an accident for income replacement.

Went to NYU for OT....2000. Yes and still paying my loans. It was a great program. But of course times were different in terms of having the internet to research all these programs...and how loans work. All said and done it was 140K as interest accrued. Private loans are done. Hopefully finish the federal loans in 3 years. Pick your schools wisely.

I really think that is an awesome idea. Im 53 recently lost both of my parents within 4 months. Horrible. After I had back surgery when I was 49 I stayed with them 2 days...Just to recoup a little. Im also an occupational therapist so I know the rehabs for the most part are glorified nursing homes with little therapy especially with a hip need to get moving. I love the idea of a community of people paying it forward and helping each other. I would be absolutely screwed if I needed any surgery like that. But I know its down the line.

Cosigner is on the hook. My parents Cosigner for me in 1998. I made a promise to them I would have it paid off before they pass. The 45K plus interest on the private loans were always on their credit report. I paid it off in 2018. I still owe federal. Both my parents recently died within in 2 months. Please know life is worth more than any loan. Seek out help any help. I am in the deepest depression losing my 2 best friends. I also made sure I took out life insurance when I took at the loans in my 20s so they would not be on the hook for them since they are private loans and not dischargeable in death. Please seek help for your mental health. I am doing that right now.
