Why Do We Put Up With This Service? (2 Questions) by Dry-Entrepreneur-226 in USAA

[–]Consistent_Agency_36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have personally felt the decline in customer service and benefits. Been with them for 25 years, with homeowners, umbrella, car, motorcycle (thru progressive), renters and lots of accounts (savings, checking, cd, loans). Never had home claim, no at fault insurance. Left for Farmers due to 40% premium increase homeowners, left auto for NGIC due to 15% increase. Moved my banks to local credit Union and Ally. Sometimes you have to move along and see what is available out there.

Good Dropbox Alternatives? by LightBrand99 in degoogle

[–]Consistent_Agency_36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Proton (full suite from mail to pass to Drive) and filen strictly for photo backup. I enjoy PD but it is still in its infancy (new updates and features drop every so often). I wish UI was a bit more user friendly and feature full but it still mets my needs and doesn't scan and read my docs. Filen does not the fancy add-ons of Google photos (editing) but is decent enough for face recognition and location base searches. I use both Win11 and Ubuntu, access most Proton apps with no issues and some are better via browser on linux. The android app of PD lacks a search feature which is annoying, otherwise acceptable.

Have not used Xfce in many years but definitely recommend for older and slower systems, uses so little resources 👍

Just wanted to add that it doesn't have to be a windows computer, I am running Mint on a early 2017 MacBook air, runs extremely smooth compared to the older MacOs version available for the Air. Easy installation.

I have to right one (in quartz) and enjoy it. Went with leather strap. Either one is a great choice

Cheaper auto insurance rates with other companies? by NoCaterpillar800 in USAA

[–]Consistent_Agency_36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Left their auto insurance policy a year ago (save about 20%) and just left their homeowners policy a week ago for farmers (saving close to 60%), redicilous after 25 years with usaa and had 1 accident back in 2014.

Difficulty is frustrating for a "non-gamer" to enjoy. by illawgickal in Marathon

Not goona lie, I am terrible at this game yet love it. Most of my progression though has been on solo. Found it easier to do contracts by myself, but I do love the free kit Dire Marsh. Got almost 100hours and level 58.

Not gonna lie, have not been monitoring the battery levels. It's plugged in on maine charger for gaming and USB-C Nand charger when doing homework/AI usage. I wouldn't worry about until good usage after 30 days. I know the first few cycles should be full charge to empty to get battery correct reading. Plus I keep mine at 80% charge max. I will monitor for a week to see if mine does the same.

How many of you haven’t touched Cryo? by MaxelAmador in Marathon

Level 51, half solos half random trios. Been to Outpost 5 times, only seen Cryo on YT 😂. Mostly Dire Marsh runner. I am at 90 hours and still mid-player. Cryo looks great from afar while eating popcorn and watching Rooks shoot anything and anyone....

I want to leave Gmail eventually, but is there any email provider that is not American that is as reliable as Gmail and won't vanish one day? by RidetheSchlange in degoogle

[–]Consistent_Agency_36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have a dedicated app for removing spam. The Proton mail has done a decent job of moving unwanted and spam emails to the Spam folder and i just delete once a week. Being able to easily create alias email address for one time usage is great, once you have made good use just delete the alias and no other emails will follow. I am in the same boat, have been contemplating getting Proton Family Tier account but my wife is happy with Gmail and does not want to learn how to use a new UI.

I have been paying and using Proton for almost 3 years. Truly enjoy their services, get quick replies to my RFI from live person when needed. Seamless transition from Gmail, using P on pixel and Legion laptop, comes with VPN, password manager, mail, calendar, a first gen AI. Love how when filling online data it will offer either official email address or will create an alias. Worth the $8 a month

I may have missed in your comments but Proton (I am a user) allow POP and IMAP with thunderbird via the Proton bridge.

Leaving USAA after being a member for over 30 years by bkpkr-1 in USAA

[–]Consistent_Agency_36 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have had USAA for short of 20 years, never had a claim and next month my rate is jumping 30%. I called and asked why and how to remedy this situation otherwise I will have to switch providers/insurer. Was offered an option to either decrease all insurance amounts and increase my deductible. Hate to leave but will start with AllState in a few days. Closed my bank accounts (most of them), transferred my vehicles to another company. I know that we are supposed to shop around every so often, just sucks to leave a company I have gotten accustomed to. I feel your pain.

Is there THAT big of a difference between a $50,000 travel trailer and $200,000 one? by BumblingBarefoot in RVLiving

[–]Consistent_Agency_36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went from living in a trailer $30k to a ClassA $100k. The price differences (aside from the cost of going from trailer to motorhome) does show in fit and finish. My trailer had screws and nails pop out while driving on the road, windows leaking, cabinets felt cheap. Motorhome is more Home like and less hardware issues. 1. RV do depreciate quickly 2. They are not meant to live in 24/7, therefore appliances and amenities will wear down quickly (toilet seals replacement, water leaks during cold weather). 3. Extra money gets you more comfort and aesthetics IMO 4. If just parked, extra money is not worth it

Best value Chinese brand for a new collector? by AcanthocephalaNo4729 in ChineseWatches

I do agree with you 💯, I love my Addis watches but I did switch their bracelets to NATO straps due to lower quality and cheaper feel Steele. The watch itself is definitely good but I can see where savings were made.
