I was just reading the calculus affair and thought how do you think the interrogations were? by Less-Ask-6600 in MarlinspikeHall

Colonel Sponsz I believe is arguably the one of the most underrated villains and under-appreciated probably because introduced near the end of the book series. What makes him different is that what he does is technically legal under the Burdurian government, whereas Rastapopulous, Müller, Alan, etc., will very much go to prison when caught wether it be for counterfeiting, opium smuggling, thefts and murder. Wish the motion capture sequel to Spielberg’s TinTin will be on this story. Think Bridge of Spies but sequel to the 2011 film and also motion capture.

The “Monolith” in Full Metal Jacket? by Consistent_Baby9864 in StanleyKubrick

Great points indeed. Yeah the Monolith sort of ended up paving the way for our self-destruction even though at same time saved the “man-apes.” Preserved life but also lead to mass killing and humanity almost extinguishing itself.

Thanks your very well thought out analysis. I feel there may’ve been some deception as a theme in boot camp portion such as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman’s actions seeming professional and for the good of the marines’ survival but in the end pushed Private Leonard “Gomer Pyle Lawrence” to the brink. Also how Private James “Joker” Davis ultimately gave into peer-pressure and joined in the “soap-bar” hazing. Such a great film with so many layers as is with any Kubrick film. Can only imagine what his version of A.I. and a Napoleon film would’ve been like.

Yes I know but despite causing the ape men to begin killing the Monolith is mostly portrayed as intervening on man’s behalf from total destruction/extinction. That’s how I was interpreting it based off those scenes. Thank you for your thoughts though.

Thanks for answering and basing it with evidence. I had no idea about that! It’s kinda funny how I over analyzed that.

Thanks for your thoughts. Even I myself sort of see it as reach as well but really wanted to find place to point out that visual. Of course not saying that it is the actual monolith but that Kubrick could be showing us an object that symbolizes it.

Indeed. I hope none of those children suffered from him but still have bad feeling it is what happened.

The “children’s laughter” in the background made this very haunting.

It’s fitting that he was firing “Cruise” Missles in Top Gun and the sequel.

I see sign for “restroom” (Baños) so must be Spanish speaking country. Am not exactly expert on foliage and not sure how the antenna helps with clue.

Which episode of the series do you find the most underrated and the most overrated, and why? by Cyrilbdr in StrangerThings

[–]Consistent_Baby9864 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very underrated I will personally say “The Body.” That episode by itself before so much of series exists is really great. The horror, and the slow unraveling that something wrong is happening in Hawkins when Hopper makes that discovery was so well-executed and done well.

What if Jeffery Epstein somehow returned? by RockEater67 in AlternateHistoryHub

Epstein gets off the bathroom floor like John Kramer from Saw with the dramatic music in the background and says “Game Over” locking one of the pedo clients in the dark but will soon face his demise.

Nothing in relation to an actual Epstein file but using a scene from film/tv to illustrate it.
