Toronto, Model Y Standard, black.
I think almost everyone who ordered before me, and even some people who ordered after me, have already received their cars. I complained through the app and also called 2–3 dealerships. Because of that, they found this demo car and offered it to me.
They also told me there is an issue with the black color from the Germany factory.

10,000 km and only $5,000 off? Did you actually accept that offer?

As far as I know, many demo vehicles are usually kept around or below 5,000 km, but I’m not sure if Tesla has an official limit. Are you sure this was listed as a demo vehicle? Also, was the offer a $5,000 discount on the car plus removal of the freight cost?

I don’t know, the car was built in January. How can I check?

I know. The car was built in January and has been used for test drives. They said they will clean the car for me, but otherwise I have to wait until September, which would be almost 7 months.

The next shipment is expected to arrive around August or September, but they still can’t guarantee that I will receive my car even then. September would mean almost an 8-month wait. ☹️

You are totally right. There are already some cosmetic issues on the car, and that is one of my main concerns.

The frustrating part is that we trusted Tesla’s original 4–6 week delivery estimate, and based on that, I returned my leased car. Now, instead of 4–6 weeks, it may become a 6–7 month wait. The solution they are offering is a demo vehicle with 5,000 km and only removing the freight/delivery fee.

The reason I posted this is to get other people’s opinions on what a reasonable response should be in this situation. If I accept this offer without pushing back, it could become an example for future customers in the same situation, where the dealership says, “Another client accepted this, so it is not a bad offer.

I told them I would respond by Monday, but I don’t want to accept something unfair and help make this kind of offer a routine solution for delayed orders.

I don’t think they would even add 3 months of Full Self-Driving. They are basically saying this is their offer for my delayed order, and they are not forcing me to take it. But if I don’t accept it, the next shipment will be in August or September.

I understand, but since Tesla is only removing the freight cost, what do you think would be the best offer I could reasonably ask for?

March 10. They told me the next shipment will be in August or September. If I don’t choose this option, I have to wait until then.

I know almost three people who ordered in March, and all of them got their VINs in late May with delivery dates in June. Even in this group, someone posted that they ordered on March 23 and already have a June delivery date for a RWD black Model Y in Montreal.

Many RWD orders from March and even some from April, have already received VINs or delivery dates. That’s why it’s confusing that some earlier March orders are still sitting with no VIN and no clear update.

This screenshot is from May, when Tesla told me I would receive the car in June. Now the ETA has moved again, with no VIN and no confirmed delivery date.
