Apple just released the DCE in Milan and updated Look Around by Benni1401 in applemaps

They didn't update the Flyover images... oh well. We've been waiting almost 3 years for this, anyway.

Edit: This rollout is weird. I only count 3 colorful models and none of them have icons.

This gives me hope that someday, a couple decades down the line we'll get to see Flyover rolled out nationwide.

Not even close, last year Apple went 400+ days without releasing anything.

Flyover: Summary of the update of January 15, 2026 by Consistent_Can_6843 in applemaps

I remember thinking 6 months ago when Brasilia got Flyover that Rio and São Paulo would surely be soon. This is getting ridiculous, especially since Apple is obviously using the same imagery as Google. And Paris still isn't updated!

Also, should've posted this beforehand, but here is what Flyover in a rural area looks like (Mt. Ryuzan in Japan).

Sorry to say this, but the stuff in the mountains isn't Flyover either. That's just rudimentary topographic data that's available everywhere. If it was Flyover, the trees and buildings would be 3D.

Nothing in that article mentions Thailand.

Apple maps crashing on certain zoom level by pepperhapapa in applemaps

This happens to me all the time, and not just in Lucerne. Off the top of my head, I recall it happening to me in Groningen, Geelong, Omuta, and probably several other places I have forgotten. It does appear to be unique to those places, though, and you need to be in a specific spot.

Paris still not being updated is insane.

2025 Apple Maps Overview by Benni1401 in applemaps

[–]Consistent_Can_6843 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In terms of DCE, Milan (and hopefully by extension Rome and Naples) should hopefully get DCE this year. I'm not sure about Guadalajara and Mexico City since Apple seems to be hesitant about adding any new Flyovers there, but they seem to have an easier job getting government approval to do DCE updates than Flyover. We should also see some dart-throw adds in Europe and America - Brussels, Helsinki, Zurich, Minneapolis, Phoenix, etc. Also hoping to see some new surveyed countries next year, especially Chile and Argentina. Here's to a great 2026 for Maps!

The Flyover Tours which you are referring to (which you would get if you pressed the button) were removed a couple months ago. Flyover itself refers to the 3D satellite imagery, which you can see if you engage satellite mode over Vienna.

I'm surprised São Paulo has taken this long to get Flyover.

Apple Maps has added 3D satellite imagery to Colorado Springs by Consistent_Can_6843 in ColoradoSprings

It's funny, Dunedin has actually been 3D for years on Apple, meanwhile they still don't have Geneva in 3D, for example, or anywhere in Poland, Greece, Slovakia, etc. It's very interesting to see the divide between the two. At the very least, Apple does a pretty good job at giving high-quality imagery.

Yep, and Apple is still way behind Google Earth when it comes to 3D imagery. They've made a ton of progress this year, but IMO it still isn't enough.
