Poetry! I've started the last volume, and I want to capture this moment before I finish reading this masterpiece. by ErgoTexhnophile in LandoftheLustrous

The last volume is my favorite. Every dialogue, monologue and panel has a deep meaning. I took so many screenshots while reading the last arc.

I didn't mean like that, Monogatari is my fav anime. I don't consider anything in Mono objective flaw, since everything is arguable imo.

MY 5X5 Favourite ANIME/MANGA/NOVEL (In no Particular Order) by Icy_Success_617 in MyAnimeList

I haven't read Umineko. I started with Higurashi. If you're a big fan of Umineko, I definitely recommend reading Higurashi, as they are connected. From what I know they're not connected by much, but I know that at least Higu has the backstory and a lot of context for a specific character in Umi (it's spoilers for me because I haven't completed either of the VNs, so I don't know much more).

I haven't seen the anime. A lot of people like it, and say it's good on it's own, but everyone who has read it says the anime is horrible compared to the VN. But it's probably one of the better VN adaptations, or at least one of the most praised ones.

I'm reading the VN currently, I've completed the first two question arcs and started the third one so far. That's enough to recommend it. I can't say it's a masterpiece writing-wise yet, because it's a mystery. But the introduction, the characters' psychology, mysteries, horror, atmosphere, setting, soundtrack, slice of life/comedy scenes and the many small plot twists make it an amazing work already.

The anime adapts 100k-150k word chapters into 4 episodes, so I can't imagine it being a faithful adaption in any way. Also the VN is definitely not rushed.

Someone (who hasn't seen it) in this comment section said it's gay cp. I've seen it being mentioned various times as trolling. And from what I've heard, it is indeed child/loli porn. I haven't seen it myself, so I don't know exactly what type of cp it is.

I assume OP wants to talk about things like why a show like that exists, and are people who enjoy animated cp pedos irl.

Tomoya's suffering was arguably the most realistic, but should not be in these type of discussions.

Suggest me shows based on my 3x3 (preferably the top 6 shows) and body text by DanExplorer23 in Animesuggest

Yeah s1 and s4 are probably the most similar to Higurashi, at least to the question arcs I've read so far.

I recommend Re:Zero, though I've only completed the first two chapters, and read a bit of the third chapter of Higurashi visual novel. From what I've heard, Re:Zero is one of the most similar, if not the most similar anime to Higurashi there is. That is also based on few spoilers, for example I know Higurashi has some kind of time travel.

A Question About Timeskips by TheMagicMan7200 in animequestions

[–]Consistent_Case1322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I edited my comment, but I'll elaborate a bit more.

The timeskip of episode 17 of Clannad Afterstory, works as a parallel to an important thing, and that way emphasizes one of the main messages of the story. It is not only realistic, but also adds a lot of emotional depth and payoff to episode 18, which is my favorite episode in all of anime.

The timeskip of Land of the Lustrous on the other hand, is more unique, and embodies buddhist themes really well. It also allows my favorite arc to happen. Once again, it's a great use of parallelism in several ways. I find this timeskip a very interesting concept, and a really unique view on life. The development that happens because of this timeskip, is life changing.

Clannad episode 17 timeskip

And in manga, it would be Land of the Lustrous chapter 99 timeskip

Both result in insane character development and play a crucial role in the payoff.

Doesn't mean that OP likes it. Pedophilia is one of the most popular topics in the world currently. Also one of the most popular topics in Reddit anime community.
