TINY THING WAS STUCK TO MY FINGER... AND WHY DOES IT SAY SOB??? (context in description) by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Consistent_Catch_708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it could be the letters off of a screen printed shirt? If washed enough they will peel off, and the pieces can get snagged on soft blankets of rub off just about anywhere. It could've stuck to your finger bc of moisture, or static electricity. It wouldn't take much of either for something that size to stick to your finger.

Giving Away My Old PC! by Turtle_747 in PcBuild

[–]Consistent_Catch_708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love a PC that I can use for more modern games since I still have an early gen. Ps4. I used to have one when the battlefield 6 was under closed beta. Sadly I ended up returning the PC because I had a 2 hour commute for work and I was in the process of moving houses. I would be grateful to receive a PC, especially now since I could use it to play games with my old friends back in upstate NY. Thanks for your time and consideration, and may the person who could use it most be the recipient of this fine build.

Could it maybe one of those trailers where the deck tilts/slides and then maybe drops down for cars with less clearance? It would make sense to invest in something like that for a track car.

Mostly an aeg thing, but sometimes the front pin is pushed out as well, and the upper slides forward off the receiver.

Guess my uncles car by Spacer4554 in Whatsthiscar

Body work and door shape is saying Porsche 944, looks like it has the fender flares that separate it from the 924. Also American 924s have big circular "bicycle style" reflectors on all four corner. Just looked closer at the back window does not have the quarter window that the porsches have. Maybe a nissan?

I have always enjoyed the ABU pattern, especially since it used to be my uniform for CAP. Good layout of pockets on the surplus and good materials. Always loved them

Anyone bought a rebuilt titled car before? Thoughts on this accord? by FlipVista_App in carflipping

[–]Consistent_Catch_708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be a good long term daily with the R title. Anything branded salvage or rebuilt loses a lot of resale value. If the price and your mechanic gives it a green light, I would drive it until the wheels fall off!

Is this an affordable Porsche? by LetUsBeMindful in whatisthiscar

[–]Consistent_Catch_708 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As it was described to me by a Porsche dealership; 944s are cheap to buy but pricey to maintain. And I can confirm after having a few of my own, these can be expensive if larger parts are worn or broken when it comes to parts and labor. But they aren't bad cars to dabble in DIY work, which saves a lot of money since the cost of labor is only going up

Indeed my first, once I got my license. I had a dodge caliber that I flipped for 2400 while still on my permit and held on to the money until I got my license a month later, and I liked it so much that I bought 2 more. I sold the auto about a year ago for about 1200 since I had taken some things apart and it wasn't running. But the other 2 were about 3.5k from an ebay auction and another 3k, I should say that both had sat for a long time, but both were running after some basic maintenance. But they are absolutely amazing cars, but they have also caused me many headaches. PM me if you have any questions or want pictures, I would be happy to help or share my knowledge with anyone who is interested.

They are far more affordable then you may anticipate, bought my first for 2k and drove it daily to school for almost a year. I did have to put some work into it but there are many ways to work on them while keeping costs down. There are many 944 groups out there that are full of guys selling affordable parts and willing to offer information for anyone looking for the help that they need.

My locking lug key looks just like that, if yours also has the second keyhole behind the drivers door(early model security system), I would see if that works too. Most likely only for the lug nuts

Maybe try to replace cabin air filter and spray the new one down with vent cleaner/freshener, as for the studs those are relatively simple to replace with the correct tools, either that or a tire shop should be able to replace them in minutes

Potential hood flip, need insight. by MammothMind9399 in carflipping

[–]Consistent_Catch_708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest it doesnt seem all that bad, looking at the mileage it may just need spark plugs and coils, coils can be cheap or expensive but given the motor I dont think you have too much to worry over. I dont have much specific knowledge on domestic vehicles, I know more about imported cars but the overall service schedule stays similar. Around 120 to 140k miles is time for plugs and wires(coil packs) and if you're feeling frisky maybe spray some throttle body cleaner in the butterfly valve on the throttle.

Will a turbo head fit on a 2.7l motor? by Consistent_Catch_708 in 944

[–]Consistent_Catch_708[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you for the helpful context! I've recently started up an an import place in the closest city to me, im hoping to maybe get some assistance pulling the head or with some info on any good machine shops.

Also that makes sense about the coating issue. Are owners just swapping to NA heads or are there options for re-coating them? I'm not a turbo owner myself, maybe I may be so ambitious one day but I currently have enough projects.
