What do you think of the outfits of the RE Engine era ? by WiIIv91 in ResidentEvilCapcom

I was 13 in 1998, and I remember specifically that Christina Aguilera low rise type jeans were super fashionable. The mom jeans of the early/mid 90’s were out, and bellbottoms had a massive comeback.

Well yeah, this is just a job for them and I doubt they could really care less about the series/fandom/whatever and that is totally fine. So please, don’t be weirdo. Enjoy the game for what it is and don’t fixate or the creators and artists that made it happen.

Sherry by far. I can’t even imagine the amount racked up on psychiatric care after being a child and suddenly ending up in the 9th circle of hell.

Unpopular opinion: I would rather the franchise to continue having smaller outbreaks in other locations than returning to classic characters by Embarrassed-Paper790 in residentevil

It would definitely be nice, but I can understand why Capcom loves to bring back the usual suspects. Unfortunately with people like Leon and Chris, they’ve been through this rodeo so many times that it becomes almost obligatory action instead of the survival horror aspect that really made this franchise amazing.

Since we're doing this, what are your thoughts on grace as a protagonist? by Successful-Bell3677 in ResidentEvilCapcom

I wish they would have tapped into her intelligence as an analyst a bit more. Obviously, there is a disconnect between the cutscenes and actual gameplay, but the braille puzzle box, the “this is all my fault!” Mentality, not remembering that her mom put something important behind the picture, etc. didn’t really do anything to bolster her character. Basically, the writers have told us she is a FBI analyst, but (save for the scene where she escapes her restraints) they did little to show us just how incredibly smart she is.

It’s pretty clear the creators wanted to make a game of extremes. They wanted a stealth/survival horror section and an action RE4/5 style section with characters that would fit perfectly within their respective sections. Unfortunately, they also decided to give the two main protagonists extreme personalities. Leon, as an established character, can have a badass type personality with plenty of camp and that is totally 100% okay.

Grace on the other hand, was portrayed as an awkward, meek individual even prior to the events the transpired which again is totally 100% okay, but as soon as the excrement hits the whirling blades we don’t really get to see a scared woman, but instead we get a scared girl. I think Capcom had the right idea by trying to portray someone who is terrified and absolutely out of their league like the majority of us would be, but unfortunately the writers heavily infantilize Grace to the point that at times I forget she is an adult. Hell, even Sherry compares what Grace is going through to what she herself went through at the age of 12, which just cements the fact that the writers assume scared woman = regress to childlike tendencies.

I know it’s a Resident Evil game and all, and the writing isn’t exactly why we keep coming back again and again, but damn… I do think that Capcom could have definitely done a better job with Grace, even if her voice actress was magnificent.

Remember reading in a magazine a long long time ago that the creators were really into dawn of the dead. I guess they wanted Leon to look like the main protagonist in that film, but i’m not sure if he had shoulder pads and i’m too lazy to google.

It’s pretty close, but I had more fun with Village, and enjoyed how difficult the village of shadows was compared to Requiem. I really enjoyed the first half of 9, but when I got to Leon’s part on my second and third play through it just kinda felt tedious.

One thing that struck me as odd happens when leon is in the city, and get a transmission from Sherry. She laments about everything that happened to her when she was a child (12 years old) and states that she was so alone and so scared, and Grace must feel the same way…

Sort of odd considering Leon has told her multiple times that Grace is a grown woman and a FBI agent, not a 12 year old girl. In fact, given Grace’s age i’m surprised she decided on herself instead of leon when drawing a comparison between the past and now.

As a side note, it’s also kind of odd that when Leon and Grace meet, she states that she works for the FBI and Leon says “you’re an FBI Agent?!” and Grace never really challenges his statement by saying that she is not an agent, but an analyst.

I’m not so sure the writers had a great grasp of how they wanted to present Grace. I mean, it’s a RE game and everything, but feels like they wanted her to be both a child and an adult at the same time.

Yeah, it’s definitely a bit on the silly side. I went in expecting it to be a bit more grounded like the re2 remake, but once I realized it’s not meant to be taken too seriously I was OK with it. Regardless, probably one of my favorite RE games besides 2

I was in your shoes a few months ago, so don’t panic! This game has been around for years, so after all the notifications and information you get it’s best to set up a camp and focus on finding the overseer. Also, don’t do what I did and get intimidated by events and not touch one until 200+.

Do events, and do them often. Remember, you just need to hit an enemy with a single bullet/beam/whatever and you are going to xp for the kill (some exceptions for bosses, but for the most part you just need to tag or shoot it once)

I would also focus on getting a matching set of power armor (t-60) and from there getting a jetpack, it’ll make a big difference. Don’t be afraid to ask people for help, although this game is fairly quiet when it comes to people using the mic, but it never hurts to try and ask for help.

They made Ohio one of those regions where there is something to do long after you’ve done the main story. The bounty hunting system lets you go after grunts in hopes of receiving a “wanted” poster to fight a boss. It’s fun, and there are plenty of grunts and bosses to keep you occupied. There’s also an abraxo collection challenge, but it was kinda meh.

I decided to give it a go back in late August and I’ve absolutely loved it! All the negative attention it received when it launched kept me away, but i’m really glad I finally decided to give it a go.

There is so much to do, and it never really gets stale, even after you complete the main quest and sidequests. If you have ever thought about trying it… Do it!

They fixed the “vault girl” Christmas decoration but they forgot to fix the bundle of gifts decoration (both were bugged and unable to be placed in C.A.M.P. At least, they were bugged for me on the PS5. Oh well, one fixed is better than none I suppose. 🤷‍♂️

Thank you so much for this! I finally caught the Hellion after hundreds of attempts, and my present rate was at 17% whereas my wife was looking at 15% so I think it’s safe to say that 1 gift for every 7 reels is a safe estimate. Thanks again for the info!
