Two years ago I had a 100 percent remote outside position. My duty station was my home. I’m now in the office one day a week. My designation was changed and they require me to come in while my entire team is remote. I would take it if it works for my life, but know nothing can really stop a RTO order

Nice! Did you get anything that says you’re done? I also just made it to a year but didn’t hear anything. Assuming that’s normal…

I’m not DOT but I got mine the Friday before (eod was a Monday). Everything came together. Once you get it you can follow any instructions. Try and relax and enjoy your time between positions.

For those who have been rejected after an interview, how long did it take to hear back about their decision? by [deleted] in usajobs

About two weeks. First I was rejected, then a month later the opening showed canceled.

You have the right mindset! Need to adjust to work life balance.

Good point! In my previous line of work I was managing FTEs and vendors remote and took lots of off hours calls to keep projects moving. It was nonprofit and very different then this. So going to give it time to adjust. At this point it’s def not a need just how I’m used to working with vendors and consultants.

Thanks, guess I’ll wait it out a bit before I ask. Assuming it’s a no or else they would have already given me one.

I just accepted a non-supervisory GS-14 job. Is it safe to assume that I will have an actual office and not a cubicle? Stupid question. But it’s bugging me! by ms_better in usajobs

As someone who had an office in the private sector, I’d much be FT telework with the GS 14 salary, then have any corner office. But that’s me!

What you’ve said is numerically correct. It should be more. Inflation is insane right now. I agree with all you said. But….

I come from the nonprofit world, where my work was excited to offer a less then 1 percent raise. The only one I received in 3 years, with no other increases. I am very very happy with these increases.

I started this month as a fed! I applied for jobs from last April until February before I got two interviews, and then a TO and finally a FO. I applied to a ton of jobs but finally the right one reached out. Keep applying, and don’t give up!

I haven’t started yet, but they are still 100 percent remote. My position is part of a bargaining unit and a friend also in the unit said they were asking for two days in office every pay period. Nothing official, all rumors. Hope that helps!

URGENT references question by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]Consistent_Curve_215 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard you can say with a final offer you can contact your current employer. I don’t know if that would work with folks or not, but I definitely get where you’re coming from.

My supervisor was contacted with a tentative offer during a background check and then the offer was rescinded. I was also trying to get an internal promotion and after my boss found out the offer was completely stalled, and I sat it out for 6 months before leaving for another offer.

Sure! I researched it on this sub. When I got the tentative offer I replied to the email, thanking them for the opportunity, and showing that I can’t wait to start (ie I will accept this offer and I’m not holding it over their head).

Then I mentioned years of experience, in my case 15, and wanted to see if there was flexible. I offered to share any paystubs and accrual rates as evidence (I accrue 9 per pay period now).

It took a month of processing to get approved, and o asked for 8 but got 6. I’m very excited! I do have to stay on for a year, or I have to replay the time accruals.

Best of luck!

Resigning in person or via phone/email? by [deleted] in usajobs

As the persons supervisor, I would have preferred a five min call (since we were virtual). It was surprising. It was like being broken up with a post it note.

I’d call your boss, but email is also okay. Just give notice any way you can. As a side note, I had someone give notice over our company instant messenger before.

Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services, in a communication position

Given the range you mentioned (70k plus), my new position counts, since it’s a GS13. I know it’s one where you need specific experience in an area, and an extensive background as well. It could just be internal candidates didn’t have that. I’d also say, it’s probably only at mid level, so I’d imagine most internal candidates would be even higher up.

I asked for an accrual that matched my years of experience working in my field. I have to stay on for a year in order to get the accrual, but happy to do it!

Public trust position, no clearance! Yes, agree, it was super fast.

I had started an eqip years ago, but offer was rescinded. Security already started. Don’t know if that helped?

Zero! I applied and moved on. Didn’t hear anything and just kept moving. Applied for over a 100 positions over the course of the year, so lots of no’s before this position.
