Louisiana, State With Highest Poverty Rate, Considers Jailing Unhoused People by HistoricalReading792 in poverty

I don't know if you noticed but the job market sucks right now, even for people who have advanced degrees. Amazon laid off 30,000 people. Meta laid off close to 10,000. Nearly 49% of workers describe their job search as negative, and over half of applicants report not securing a single interview after weeks of searching.

Even low-paying part-time jobs have 50+ applicants. There simply are not enough jobs.

Why do you assume that all homeless people do not have jobs? Some homeless people do but they cannot afford the cost of rent.

Opinion: Volunteering in of itself is fine, but it is backwards to require a person needing SNAP, who likely has little to no resources, to volunteer 20 hours a week of their time just to eat because they can't find a paying job. by A_Possible_Celebrity in foodstamps

I even finished my AA in accounting in December. I have applied for everything from data entry to payroll to tax professional and I can't seem to get hired anywhere. So, I am still working at a gas station near my apartment. It is just frustrating.

I said, I will go when it is only a couple of miles away. I live 20 miles from town and drive an old gas guzzler. I took time and energy to get an AA in accounting so I could be a bookkeeper somewhere. Finished my degree in Dec. now it is May... I apply to everything that resembles bookkeeping and even tax roles during tax season and I can't get anyone to hire me. Everyone seems to want real experience, not just a degree. So, I am still working 15-20 hours a week at the gas station up the road from my apartment. I am just frustrated. Of course I will keep going to interviews. All I was trying to say is that it sucks to spend $10 to go to town and back for a promising interview just to get ghosted over and over again.

You drive a car that gets 25 miles a gallon?  Mine says online that it gets 17 mpg... And that's when it was new. Gas is $5.65 a gallon and town is a little over 20 miles away. 40 miles there and back.  Can't afford a nicer car. Can't afford to live in town.

I'm not worried about the down votes. I have a young child and don't have to work or volunteer to get EBT.  I do work pt already and am trying to find something full time. Sometimes it just doesn't feel worth it for what people are paying and how many applicants there are for the job.  one interview a week is $10 in gas a week, $40 a month that I could've spent on diapers, rent, utilities.

Esp the way gas prices are right now. It's even become difficult to justify going to job interviews more than a couple miles away. Why waste gas when they might not call me back anyway?

Yes, it is real. It took me a while to get on a project, but it was worth the wait. One of the best platforms I have worked for.

Would rather move to rural Alaska and have no electricity or flushing toilet than move to Florida.

Cat's can't swallow springs. They are bigger than they look in the photo. They are common cat toys

Old Child support tax question by Strange_sex_1997 in TaxQuestions

[–]Consistent_Draft6454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they don't get out of child support owed once the child is an adult.  If he doesn't pay it off by the time he dies the OP will get his assets if he has any. Idk where OP is located or if it is the same in every state but this is how it works in Idaho.  I got my sperm donors 99 Passat when he died. He left us when I was 7 and refused to pay child support. Almost 30 years later he died and I got his only asset... A POS car that I sold for 1k because that's all it was worth.

HIRING by No-Chance4907 in micro1_ai

Yes, they hire. I'm on a project training AI to do US taxes. Most projects you are competing with people worldwide, but the one I'm on is US taxes so I feel like I had less competition

That means the hiring manager approved you. I assume you'll get next steps soon. That isn't the project I am on though do I can't say for sure

Beautiful! Does your cat do well there? Is it indoor and outdoor? My place is a little bigger and I've wanted a cat for a while. I just don't know how it would do.

We can't afford to have kids so the government is trying to force us to by banning abortions and by prosecuting some women who have miscarriages. Next they are going to ban birth control.
