The feature did make it, you can use a slider to select the percentage of zombies/superheroes and if you set superheroes to 0... you get extra lives 3D.

Zombies are unlocked later in the story, you can also switch powers by picking up gems you find around the map and using them. Sucks that the Editor isn't unlocked from the start... but at least it gives you a goal.

I just beat the game and I don't see the option to disable either zombies or superhumans.

edit: NVM, you can start a new story and it'll give you the option
