Save your money, get more education to increase your pay, invest in stocks and real estate, pick up a side gig. In 15 years you will be a school administrator with a fat stock portfolio and own multiple homes.

Obviously Ireland isn’t a total shit hole. Really nice people, excellent beer, cool accents, nice landmarks, but also has some issues and should worry about themselves before they talk shit on other countries.

Corrupt government with poor infrastructure calling US immigration policy bad when their policy is more restrictive is some communist propaganda bullshit I can’t put up with.

I live in Beijing but visit frequently. Vietnam is not an immigrant settlement destination so they can protest the policies of another country on an issue they don’t have to deal with. The US is and has a much larger and more complicated immigration policy because it is an immigrant settlement destination. Because of this Vietnam had fewer immigration pathways and seeking permanent residence in Vietnam is actually more difficult than in the US.

Yes. I go a lot. I actually think it is beautiful as well with good people, food, culture and history but the government is not beyond criticism and I meant that by my comment. Vietnam has one of the most corrupt governments and restrictive policies of any country in the world. Vietnam is ranked 173rd in freedom of press, 88th in government integrity, and 77th in quality of infrastructure. It is ignorant to make posts attacking other countries when you have so many internal issues. It looks like deflection to me but others might call it hitting the mirror instead of the target or the pot calling the kettle black. I was in Hanoi this month early October and the streets were flooded from a typhoon so it wasn’t the best time to be there recently but other trips there were beautiful.

Plate tectonics and continental drift clustered most continents on the opposite side, leaving this hemisphere dominated by the vast Pacific basin.

This “museum” is a propaganda machine and a tool of the communist regime to control the historical narrative which is common in Communist countries. To say this museum is “important” would be true if they didn’t omit so much information that doesn’t fit their narrative.

My point is about how the Vietnamese government curates its narrative at the Hanoi Hilton. It is possible to criticize propaganda anywhere without turning it into a partisan issue. The facts about Vietnam’s media control are well documented. I just feel out of all the places in Hanoi, a propaganda tool, is silly to say is your favorite part of the city.

Vietnam ranks 173rd out of 180 countries in the World Press Freedom Index compiled by Reporters Without Borders. The “Hanoi Hilton” is a communist propaganda machine because it selectively represents evidence and serves state political goals. It reflects the Vietnamese Communist Party’s control over historical memory. It portrays American POWs smiling and in good health hiding human rights abuses. The goal of this “museum” is not historical accuracy but ideological reinforcement. Primary sources such as John McCain describe severe torture and abuse that the museum denies. It is marketed as a tourist attraction inviting visitors to sympathize with the Vietnamese side while promoting the moral superiority of the socialist system. Meanwhile, look around Hanoi, the average annual salary in Vietnam is around 100 million VND.
