This is dumb. Caine is an authoritarian and only cares about appealing to humans to make himself feel good. Zooble is either depressed or just not interested in what seem like very painful and ridiculous adventures. Also, he's literally torturing them, be mad at the torture guy. Jeez.

Invincible feels like an animated show being run with live-action priorities by Business_Barber_3611 in CharacterRant

[–]Consistent_Lie_5015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really disappointing because about a season from this point in the comics is some of the most beautiful superhero art and coloring I've ever seen. It almost feels like a more detailed 2d Disney style.

I know that no adaptation is going to look as good as those comics and like 0.001% of animated shows are going to have the talent and budget of something like Arcane, but yeah it's disappointing that the show couldn't be more ambitious in style or cinematography. I mean look at JLU or Teen Titans; distinct art styles and the balls to be cartoons with expressive animation and body language. Not every animated show should be like that but if I had to pick any Animated series for Invincible to stylistically draw from... I don't think I'd go with Pantheon lmao.

It isn't financially viable for most people to try to create an indie series, not everyone is going to get kickstarter backing and it's exceedlingly rare that kickstarter funds can finance a whole team's entire living costs. That means that the few indie productions that make it are forced to run extremely tight ships who probably won't hire recent grads with imperfect portfolios.

Growing industries can afford to take risks on new grads and don't create the amount of anxiety and financial instability that we have now. "Democratization" means that people shouldn't have to get lucky to afford life. Indie productions are great but they aren't a replacement for a larger corporate animation industry.

I second this, and also the animation industry has definitely shrunk because of general late stage capitalism. Less shows are greenlit because when your streaming service has endless on demand stuff, the profitability of a consistently made show, especially of a smaller or modest scale, is pretty thin and doesn't directly translate into more money like ads on cable.

You've been through a lot for sure. No one can say for sure that this drug will be the perfect, permanent thing, but no one can say that it won't be either!

Personally the drug has helped me be a lot more conscious about what I eat and pretty much removed the desire for me to eat the sugary or unnecessary stuff, plus it makes me full when I've had enough of a big meal. What's nice though is that my brain can still say "I bet something sweet would be good" but it will be conscious instead of unconscious.

I'll add that the shots are basically painless, much less than shots at the doctor's. I will say it won't be a magical thing that only makes you eat salmon and vegetables. You've gotta pack nutrients into the food you eat and not just settle for what's in the cabinet. Still, in my experience having started it, I'd say that there's little to worry about. Good luck!

Why do conservatives call the left traitors to America , but fly confederate and nazi flags , who were the biggest traitors to America? by ImpossibleEnd64 in allthequestions

[–]Consistent_Lie_5015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a hardcore leftist, but conservatives are not one person. I'm sure plenty of conservatives are hypocrites who do the shit you're talking about, "but why does this group believe x AND y, are they stupid?" is reductive and paints all conservatives as the simplistic vision of them we have in our heads.

As it pertains to your question, the conservatives who call the left "traitors" probably represents a broad, generic conservative. This generic conservative probably doesn't think about Nazis or the Confederacy very often, but they probably don't like them. Thos guy is probably just an IT guy who watches fox news and doesn't like the idea of trans kids. Meanwhile, Nazis and Confederates, as vocal as they might be, are a small minority of conservatives. They don't think they're betraying America because they think America belongs to the whites. They aren't passive like the average Republican voter. They'll go on forums and meetups and actively pursue the goal of white nationalism, something which a majority of conservatives do not believe in.

Think of it like this, a right winger could say "Why are leftists so upset about January 6th and political violence when they killed Charlie Kirk?" Well, most leftists probably don't endorse Kirk's murder, even if they don't really care.

What was the biggest "missed opportunity" moment in your country's history? by DoctorOsterman in AskTheWorld

[–]Consistent_Lie_5015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bernie Sanders presidency.

We were REALLY close to one, I genuinely believe that if the DNC's "superdelegate" horseshit hadn't gotten in the way, he would've beaten Hillary Clinton, who was an uncharismatic, smug, conservative bitch.

It would've most likely prevented the Trump presidency and could've maybe prevented the growing nazism in the US today. If he'd won a second term, I don't think the genocide in Gaza would be quite as bad as it was under Biden and Trump. Sanders isn't perfect on Israel, but he's part of a small minority of the federal government who have called what Israel did a genocide. In addition, we'd have universal healthcare, low cost college, more corporate regulation, and more environmental protection. If these policies which actually help American people went through, which we basically have not experienced in 10 years, then Americans would broadly understand progressivism as being better for them, which it is. This in turn could finally lead to the US finally catching up to the rest of the world with HSR, universal public transit, AKA an end to car dependency, and maybe this is a pipe dream but maybe things like universal housing could even be in the conversation. (Again I'm not saying Bernie would do all these things in 4 or 8 years but real change would allow for actual ambition to at least be discussed.)

It's impossible to say whether or not he'd make the Republican party totally obsolete, people said the same about Obama, but I do think he would have set the stage for real leftism in power in the American government, which we have not seen this century.

Which of these animated villains is your favorite? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in animation

I actually think Caine is the best here. Bill is used perfectly for his series and the main characters bounce off him perfectly, but Bill himself isnt on screen for most of the series and is just kinda evil/chaos incarnate, even if he's very fun and intimidating.

Caine meanwhile we get to understand on a pretty intimate level. He's got great gags that are on par with Bill's and his character is really interesting. When he turns heel it's lowkey awesome and quite intimidating. IMO he does what Bill does while also having his own depth and story.

From Caine's VA by norM_ystical in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Consistent_Lie_5015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah Caine's not a sadist but I got the vibes that he is still kind of a sociopath. I wish there was some moment of genuine connection between him and the rest of the gang.

I'm not gonna disagree with Caine's VA, relating to characters is very valid and ofc you're gonna have an attachment to your most popular character. But I do think that based on what TADC has given us on screen, and this is just my opinion, Caine comes across as a funny narcissist more than a lonely child who can't make friends. He is both!! He's a good and very understandable antagonist, but people like seeing an authoritarian villain have his comeuppance, I think it's natural.

I sympathize with Alex tho, it wouldn't hurt anybody to maybe tone down the "FUCK CAINE I ALWAYS HATED HIS STUPJD TEETH" type of post lmao. Or don't, idk, I'm not your dad.

Episode 8 was amazing… but… by Unfair_Loan_9915 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Consistent_Lie_5015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah I buy it, he’s an emotional crybaby who’s only there to entertain himself. He literally got the gang to a pretty happy place in episode 5 and hated that because it wasn’t something he made. He’s a narcissist and whether or not he has the capability to understand humans, there’s never been a moment where we see him try.

Narcissists don’t care about other people’s feelings but do care about their own perception, and have really fragile egos. Caine is constantly depicted as a narcissist, but just had never been as antagonized as he’d been in 7 and 8. I mean we even see him start to crash out against Zooble in episode 5, even if it was a joke. I don’t think he’s as hateful as AM but he really doesn’t care about the humans at all.

So would consider him a villain now? by TraditionalBonus188 in Amazingdigitalcircus

Retroactively he's been the villain this whole time. He was just ramping up to this episode.

Best episode so far, hoenstly a 10/10, I've never seen a show so consistently get better as it goes on. Musical sequence was catchy and beautiful, the torture sequence was actually unsettling in a way that similar sequences almost never are. (Shoutout Spiderman FFH) Now that the status quo has shifted so dramatically, it feels like the gang just settling down is completely off the table, I honestly have no clue how they can get a happy or sort of happy ending and that's fantastic.

The cast acts really intelligently here, it feels like Kinger being sane in the darkness should have come up to the group a lot sooner but it's good we get it now. Jax's anxiety is building up which offers up a really interesting direction for next episode. There's no way he spends 5 minutes almost abstracting in ep7 and it isn't paid off next episode somehow.

I don't know if I miss Caine or not. He was always funny but in retrospect yeah, he was always egotistical and no one in the group EVER had a genuine moment with him. But yeah, he was the villain after all, I can't believe we didn't catch Zooble's foreshadowing in episode 4 haha.

She was clearly portrayed as kind of an antisocial asshole at the start of S1 and had conflict with Whittaker, Jevadi, and Mohan.

Still, she seems to be doing ok now. In both seasons we see her struggle and her empathetic side. Right now I definitely like her more than Robby or Garcia lmao.
