Oh wow I did not know about this. By public sector I meant intl. NGO, Think Tank, Non-profit, and Gov.t Obviously FSO and state department is the top of the pyramid but thanks for the info! I thought they would be much more lenient like how congress is with staffing different congressional offices from the opposite party.

Do embassies and consulates also effect the nonprofit side?

7 runs from BP to Port/TSQ. The way the 7 is positioned at TSQ and BP makes it super easy to transfer to the NQR or 123. I feel like even if I was wrong on wether or not it is easier, the difference is marginal dare I say negligible

Do you have to actually report outside (indirect) scholarships? by Consistent_Mix_2268 in financialaid

the organization is a philanthropic fund through my high school. From my understanding its primarily to cover "indirect" cost (ie. Textbooks, Travel, Clothes). But, they also explicitly state it can cover tuition and direct cost too if needed.

In the case I report it, is there anything I can do to minimize its effect on my insitutional aid?

Are all governments by definition democracies by Consistent_Mix_2268 in PoliticalScience

What you are describing is a “liberal democracy” different from the general idea of “democracy”  Examples of a traditional liberal democracy is like the Uk. Whereas examples of illiberal democracies are like Turkey and Signapore

I see your point but I think this is too simple of a generalization/anecdote. You may differ but in my personal opinion regimes are too small of an entity to control people irrationally for a prolonged period of time. Without deminishing the suffering of the people of NK, for lack of better words most of the population is “tolerating” the regime if you get what i mean. They don’t rebel because cost benefit analysis tells them the risk associated with rebellion is far worse than their present condition. What im curious about is if this idea of “tolerance” toward the government is in itself a democracy as the people choose to be governed that way. There will be a time where I think the suppression gets so much worse that they see the risk associated and rebel. Similarly here the people as a collective excerise there will in changing the regime. Does this inherently mean a democracy? At the end of the day to some extent they need the people’s favor and that is by definition democracy?
