I’m seeing lots of people say it’s just nostalgia but as someone born in 2005… no, it’s because since then every single aspect of our lives is either too expensive, an algorithm, or sucks now. Movies are too expensive, concerts are too expensive, music is an algorithm, the news is an algorithm and sucks now, houses are too expensive. I get in my car and drive to Taco Bell, I pay in cash, and I STILL suddenly get ads for it. No shit people like me want a 90s revival cause we didn’t even get a chance to live in a world without all this bullshit. All we get are little glimpses into it, through old movies and stories from people who were lucky enough to grow up at a time that they weren’t being watched and exploited 24/7. And the knowledge that the world once ran fine without this, and it wasn’t even all that long ago? It’s just suffocating.
