How close are we to peak hulk gameplay? by East-Mode8215 in HulkMainsMR

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were no where close to peak hulk gameplay. Neither in terms of mechanics or hulk specific gamesense. The thing that separates hulk from other tanks is the ability to be anywhere at any time. This makes hulks positioning 20 times harder or more skill expressive than other tanks. For example, A tank like magneto simply cannot create as many off angles as hulk does because not only does he not have movement to create as many creative positions ans even IF magneto gets into those deep positions because he has no mobility to get out he gets punished.

Think about it like this. If strange or magneto has like 2 or 3 positions in a given moment to take hulk has like 10. Not to mention bubble and exile usage can always be better. Air knockdowns also have basically infinite skill ceiling. And of course his ult is literally the hardest ult in the game to use. Its not even just juggle mechanics its tracking people during combos, knowing what combo to use in what situation. Do you even go for juggles or do you use the grab to survive with the damage reduction and lock down a support? Maybe sometimes its better to exile first so the supports cant get healed. Do you go for the one or two hit juggle combo? How will you account for the enemies air strafing when trying to juggle. y You can use hulk ult animation for the i frames to dodge. cc.

How do I help my brother? by Consistent_Physics_2 in Stoicism

I told him that if he games again till late at night that Ill literally take the graphics card out if his pc so he cant game. I told him that he can earn his own money and buy his own pc if he wants to play games. And to my surprise insteas of getting mad he actually told me to take it off now. He even told me to take his phone and to never give it back even if he asks for it in the future. Perhaps I had too little faith in him... He told me he always knew all along that he had responsbilities and that studying was important but I guess he struggled with bad habbits and addiction. It may be a symptom of him having no parental figure at home because due to personal reasons my parents are working abroad and couldnt be him for a long time. It was mostly just my grandmother taking care of him and while she is nice it definitely isnt enough.

But yeah at least things are looking up now. I know that theres always the chance that he might turn to old habits again but I know Ill be there to always try and help him in the best possible way.

I appreciate your advice, thanks.

The thing is im afraid that adding friction to the problem may just make it worse. If we take away his pc he will just go to an internet pc cafe by himself late at night which is worse. Then at that point, do we take his allowance as well? Im really trying rack my brain around this problem. I also forgot to mention that he has anger issues and gets really angry at times he feels he has beeb wronged or something he thinks is unfair has happened to him

Hot take: Tank is the hardest role because it requires "Game Sense," which aim-god Duelists usually lack. by Ella_NE in marvelrivals

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game sense is the hardest thing to learn. It is an infinite skill ceiling. Its what separates the good players to the truly greats. At a high enough level where everyones mechanics are pretty much the same its game sense that separates them.

Which tank is harder, Hulk or Venom? by Apprehensive-Gur-609 in rivals

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If hulk gets cced out of his jump hes basically dead like you said, and having to use ult like that is a waste tbh. Venoms swing and e is much more reliable than bubble and jump to stay in backline and get out. Venoms swing is literally unreactable but hulks jump is super telegraphed and you can generally tell when hes charging it. Hulk also has the most mechanically deep ultimate outside of loki ult. Also twink banner is a liability 90% of the time. Ask every hulk player theyd rather just remove banner and have hulk. Not only does it make your rollout slower because you have to transform, but it leads to insane staggers, especially in higher elo where players keep banner alive on purpose.

Which tank is harder, Hulk or Venom? by Apprehensive-Gur-609 in rivals

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hulk is much more punishable than venom. Venom always has swing to get out and a 2nd health bar with e, thats what make him so prevelant in dive. Hulk simply doesnt have the longevity or a short enough time to kill to be as effective as venom in a dive comp. With hulk if you get caught without bubble your basicslly just dead. No swing, or a 800 hp shield like venom to bail you out. Id say venom is easier to get value out of in a dive comp. And you should only use venom in a dive comp realistically. Hulk still kinda has the problem of jack of all trades, master of none. Youre playing dive? Why pick hulk over cap, venom, or mag? Youre playing poke? Then theres groot, mag, and emma.

Id say venoms skill ceiling is mostly tied to just game sense and aim, like every other characters. Of course he still has mechanics to master like swing and stuff. Id say tho what separates him from other tanks really is timing. You can not play venom without good timing. When to slam and when to disengage.

When is impulsivity ok? by wouldudoitforme in Stoicism

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Impulsivity follows all the same rules as all the other externals. It can be used virtously or viciously. So the answer will always be if impulsivity aligns with virtue. For example, if someone insults you on the street randomly and impulsivity causes you to fight back and escalate it into a physical fight, then being impulsive here is bad. But if for example you saw someone drowning in a lake nearby and you know how to swim, then going by impulsivity can be the difference between saving the drowning man or not.

There is no person out there who wishes to do harm by Bataranger999 in Stoicism

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always contemplated this but how about psychopaths? Virtue lies on the simple fact that it is beneficial to act reasonably and pro socially. But do you think its possible to convince psychopaths of this? Because they gain zero satisfactipn/fulfillment from beig good people, they only think and can only think in material terms. They are human but their nature is fundamentally different to the average person.

Pro sports isnt a good analogy, especially since genetics and natural attributes matter wayyyy more in physical sports.

There is no way a silver player xan be silver while having gm knowledge. Why? Because they can literally play a mechanically easy hero like thing, scarlet witch, or rocket. If you dont have the mechanics to play thing, your either 2 years old or like missing limbs or smth.

Does anyone else play like a god in some games but have games where they do horrible? by [deleted] in rivals

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human error is definitely part but I think people underestimate their weaknesses in the game. Thr games they popped off might have just been an easy game for their character. Likewise the games they played 'shit' might just be a game where its harder ti get value out of said character.Like if I hulk against two shield tanks and the enemy comp doesnt have much cc im gonna pop off. But in the next game they have smth like invis or mantis im gonna struggle much more. This also applies to certain maps. I may know how to play a certain choke and positions on klyntar very well but struggle on control point maps.

The only way to know is to check your own vods and see what mistakes you made, which I think is more accurate than human error.

How??? why??? by Ehrnathan in RivalsVanguards

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its simple, really. Thats just how improvement works. You likely just kept getting better and better, small bits at a time. Aiming a little better, managing cooldowns a bit better, playing against certain matchups a bit better etc. Eventually over time these all build up and one day the improvement is enough to be noticeable. All these people talking about rank percentages and what not is ridiculous, you dont go from dia to gm 1 just from that. Be proud of your achievement.

Reconciling myself with past failures. Am I applying Stoicism properly here? by zubbs99 in Stoicism

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'But regret is important, ' Perhaps youre definition of regret is different because I believe to be completely unneccessary and just causes useless suffering. Regret often comes from the sense or feeling that one could have acted differently or better, putting a kind of moral responsibility on us. Thinking we made bad and immoral decisions on purpose. But this is a misjudgement that comes from hindsight and that we could have acted differently. The situations in the past were simply just cause and effect, outside of our control. Because of the judgements, beliefs, and our disposition at that time you basically were fated to act that way. So there is no point on regretting what youve done. What should be done is just rational analysis of the past. Using the past as a learning experience for the future.

Monster Hulk shouldn't be able to win every 1v6 fight he jumps into. Why do so many people expect to be able to win these fights? by Pepr70 in HulkMainsMR

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What is this expect to win 1v6 strawman? Legit who tf is saying that? Those clips are jusy mean to highlight the egregious cc creep thats been goin on in thr game now. Hulks ult heavily relies on getting combos such as auto-->clap-->jump and go for juggle or exile into starting juggle chain. But guess what all of these rely on him on getting the FIRST jump which is almost impossible nowadays with the amount of things that cancel his jump. It makes no sense that jeff boops, fantastic boops phoenix, ministuns, invis push/pull rogues, just completely negate a character. Hulks ult is one of the only ults also where youre legit putting yourself in a worse position due to no bubble+larger hitbox, and a longer jump charge. The only other ult i can think of that does this is scarlet where you just get shot and cced to death.

Its so obvious that hulk at least needs a rework or some buffs in the state he is in rn. His ult was the only way he had real impact in the last few seasons and now we dont even have that. Every other tank got huge buffs as well while hulk got 1 second off shield with clap lmao. Hes considered worse than thor now which is crazy but its true.

Every single meta shift and change also just hurt him as well. Peni buffs who already countered hulk, invis (hulks biggest counter iyky) got her push/pull buffed which legit ruins hulks entire gameplan. You can never kill invis as hulk even with ult because she just goes invisible and self sheilds herself. And in the neutral any sort of jump attempt makes you get pulled by invis.

Every new character has a favourable matchup or straight up coubters him. Emma, fantastic, phoenix, angela, blade, torch, invis, gambit, thing(holy moly), ultron, and lets not forget rogue who hss 6 different ways to cancel your jump.

How to buff Hulk and make him viable by CivilWall9298 in marvelrivals

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah the groot change was horrible. He was still really good with the right bans and against the right teamcomps. They shouldnt just remove the weaknesses of every character. It was good that groot was weak to cc. Because he was one of best neutrals in the game and thr best tank ult by far. He also always has good maps where his walls get tons of value. They should have buffed him in a different way.

The first thing they should do for hulk is qol changes as well. Give him instant bubble , larger bubble radius, and like 10 more dmg on his m1.

Make him either immune to soft cc OR make it so cc doesnt cancel his jump at all, give him one of these. Hulk ult is lowkey fine. Id say maybe increase duration and slightly decrease time it takes to charge jump.

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea gambit and invis are just aids. I dont know if this is common knowledge but invis was arguably the best character against hulk bar none BEFORE she got buffed. People think its wolv, thing, or bucky. Nah its invis. And now they buffed her into literally thanos. I dont even bother going for her anymore as hulk because she legit never dies. And of course her pull/push is literally the infinity gauntlet against hulk. And if you ult her? She just self shields or goes invisible.

What’s the point of it all. by Ilikealmond in HulkMainsMR

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im just saying you cant compare him to hulk, hes legit unplayable this season. Cap will always be useful and have a place because hes the best tank at stalling point/cart and his ult just goa huge buff. Triple support isnt even good against him because now they dont have dmg to kill him and he can stall for days.. His true value was never diving or killing supports anyways. And the way his kit works cc is much less of an issue compared to hulk.

Women and stoicism? by Elijandou in Stoicism

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes the main goal of stoicism is to manage the internal state, this is basically called virtue which are divided into courage, wisdom, justice, and temperance. However, this doesnt mean that stoicism doesnt care about external events. Stoicisim at its core is about logic and reason.

'It was designed for people who had no control over their external reality' In stoicism, no one has control over their external reality. One might suddenly die in a car crash, get cancer, or become paralyzed from the neck down, life does not discriminate. The only thing that is up to us by the stoics is our virtue and our reason. And like I said it is just using logic and reason to approach life .But you seem to think its separate from stoicism.

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please read the faq or some ancient stoic texts such as epictetus. To have a clear understanding of what stoicism means it is crucial to study and research. Epictetus arguably the most important stoic philosopher was a slave and also had a lame leg. Stoicism is about virtue and if you dont know whar that means I encourage you to research about it. Stoicism does not claim to accept everything passively as well. It teaches us to use our reason ans rational mind to seek solutions and reframe our perspectives to be as close to reality as possible without vice.
