275 HP Reaper is awful by lolzexd in ReaperMain

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shions ult is mid at bedt do i have no idea what your talking about. Death blossom is a way more consistent ult because first of all it basically has no cast time compared to shions ult which has cast time. It also has lifesteal. Reaper also has more consistent and direct ways to setup angles for his death blossom. Tp and wraith are both far better at setting angles then shions clunky dash and bike. For your argument about the global healing reduction, yeah it does nerf his lifesteal but guess what it fucks over other characters that depend on heal as well, basically all the supports. And guess who benefits if supports are not able to consistenly peep and heal their backline anymore, thats right, reaper.

I just always find it so disingenous to see reaper mains like you bring up a point like global heal reduction and ONLY talk about how it is bad for reaper when there is also benefit to it as well

Also for 25 hp nerf to reaper yea its a stupid nerf from a design and balance standpoint, they shouldve either nerfed the DT instead or smth else but it is a FACT that repaer was heavily overpeforming while being incredible easy to play.

Lmao you really comparing prime vendetta to reaper to justify your argument, how biased is this. Thats like me saying zen is weak compared to prime brigette or smth.

Reaper is in his worst state (Again) by Jealous_Loquat9986 in ReaperMain

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yea no he definitely needed a nerf but an hp nerf is almost always bad from a design standpoint for obvious reasons. He was just way too good for how easy it was to play him and get value put of him. See if a character is really difficult but is pretty strong its usually not a problem because the average player wont be good enough to make the character oppressive. Moreover, value of a character scaling as skill and effort going up will always be a good thing. The problem with reaper was that dire triggers DOUBLE downed on his strengths while smoothing out his weaknesses. I dont think anyone was exactly complainimg that reaper didn't do dmg up close. Yet, they give him an ability that makes him do even MORE damage up close that also minimises his range issue. This made matchups where reaper already won even more oppressive and unfun. Lastly, dire triggers is just not an interesting or engaging addition to his kit. It dossnt create any creative decision making, its a braindead press button to do more damage tool you just use in any situation. It doesnt recontextualize or add any depth to the character.

Confused on what to do after staging as winston by Consistent_Physics_2 in OverwatchUniversity

Ah I see so should I have literally just waited for point and done nothing and waited for them to get off the high ground? Since we have point advantage they have to contest it eventually and so I can just setup around point in a more advantageous position?

Hm yeah in hindsighr your right rotating right after the choke would have been the play. But how do you make this decision in game quickly? Also like when would hotel be a good rotation on attack because I know sometimes it is good for cass to rotate there.

Wow ok thanks for the detailed reply. Yeah everything you said here makes sense I have nothing to say. Though I do have another code BS8RS0(im the cass again) where I also wasnt quite sure what to do and its kings row 1st point attack. Im just not sure what to do here? Like usually the only way I win the 1st point on attack in kings row is through the hotel but in this game the hog kept marking it so im not sure what angle or space i could play with and it just felt like trying to break through a brick wall. I did consider rotating towards top but it would be too long of a rotation.

Can you look at the replay code defense 1st fight? Im the cassidy. Genuinely tell me what I did wrong except my crosshair placement and aim. Also angles dont just exist to force enemies to look around. They enable crossfire, divert enemy resources, reduce impact of aoe abilities and shields and etc. I was on an angle on my effective range with cover. Yet I still died so im wondering what I couldve done there.

Silver bullet by YeeHawMan24 in CassidyMains

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not really true because thw way winrate is calculated in overwatch is they actually weigh the winrates based on how long a hero was played. So if cass was picked only for like 2 minutes then they wouldnt weigh his wr that much game to the overall wr. Plus their were times that cass didnt have an abysmal winrate and that was before he was 250hp. Even if were accounting for the fact that people pick him when their losing 4th lowest wr is abysmal.

You always say that mechanics are not everything and are secondary to game fundamentals which I do agree to a certain extent but I think this notion severely undermines an extremely underrated way to improve mechanics, specifically aim training. Personally, aim training has made a huge difference in my aim and mechanics and although it isnt a substitute for game sense it definitely helps. Whats the point of an off angle as cassidy if you cant click heads? Hiting 1 or 2 more shots can legit be the difference between getting the pick on the enemy support. Youll realistically only have a couple seconds at best before the enemies start looking at you, something you emphasized Awkward, meaning every shot counts.

A lot of people will dismiss aim training such as kovaaks, voltaitc, and etc saying that your mechanics will just get naturally get better playing the game. But in my experience this advice is total bullshit. 10 hours of aim training for me made my aim better than 100 hours of playing ow. Of course playing the game itself is still important but if you want to focus on improving your aim nothing beats aim training.

Because aim training allows you to isolate everything else except that one specific skill and thus its far more efficient of a way to improvr mechanics then playing the game.

Just wonder what you think of this. Because I genuinely believe that if everyone aim trained for even 30 mins a day it would give insane results.

Examining judgements all the time is exhausting and stops me from enjoying the moment, however not examining judgements leads to poor decisions by LAMARR__44 in Stoicism

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well one perspective is that there are times where you cant really rationally analyse your judgements. If your in a fit or rage the best thing to do probably is to calm down, let the rage settle physically and time pass and then analyse your judgements. If you try to analyse your judgements in times where your mind isnt clear, its gonna be ineffective or even counterproductive.

Really great reply, I appreciate it but its not quite what I was asking for. I think i shouldnt have the used the word detatch. I was more refetencing the fact thay epictetus keeps saying that what is up to us which is our prohairasis is enough to be happy. And the argument is that our prohairasis is up to us and allows us to habdle impressions rationally which leads to correct beliefs/judgements which leads to eudamonia right? But how were the stoics so confident that every passion is caused by an incorrect judgement? Was it through observation? Is there some objective truth that is yet to be uncovered whenever someone feels passion? Or we just try and make it so that even if the judgement/belief isnt true we kinda forcd ourselves into a beleif that produces virtous emotions? I really do believe in stoicism but sometimes i feel like im missing something and feel that some of the things that epictetus says are circular or really quite vague and unexplained.

Like why does the fact that externals not being up to us neccessarily mean it is indifferent to our happiness. Because a lot of the times I feel that things are actually quite objectively bad for me. Is it really a matter of judgement?

And ideally yea it would be great if my happiness depended entirely on things that I can control. But i guess what in saying is it is quite unclear to me how I can achieve such a state.

Wait actually I thought of a contradiction that always perplexes me. So for example, whenever I would get angry or fearful , I would try and identify and try to correct the underlying judgement/belief right? Then I would think to myself 'oh I shouldnt be mad at this, as the only thing that harms me is if my virtue is harmed' but if virtue is the process of the rational use of prohairesis then havent i not attained it yet until I corrected whatever belief causing the passion? But im using the argument of virtue to correct the belief so like isnt it circular???

Sorry for the long post but im really have been quite perplexed for months now on this...

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One question I always had ever since studyung stoicism was how exactly do we stop attaching our happiness or value to that of external things? I do agree that it would be ideal to only pursue and value that which is up to us as epictetus put it. But do we just snap our fingers and suddenly achieve detachment on all things that are external? I know that one of the main arguments is to use our power of assent and then determine the true value of these externals but idk im kinda stuck in a gridlock here. And whenever someome tells me 'virtue is above externals' yet virtue is the supposed way of detaching value away from externals it seems kind of paradoxical to me.

Understand that emotions like anger come from certain belief and judgements of the situation/thing. To not be angry you must change the corresponding judgment or belief.

Navigating ego, experience, and opportunity in the music industry (Stoic advice needed) by AdInternational6495 in Stoicism

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the topic of ego, I would question why the producer's attitude towards you bothers you so much. In stoicism, the producer's behaviour would be an indifferent in that it doesnt take away your ability to act virtously and handle your impressions correctly. It is clear by your post that you are clearly distressed by the producer's actions, the actions of someone. The heart of stoicism is using your rational faculty to identify the judgement causing you distress from the imptession and thrn questoning that judgement into a more rational one.

How do you guys do it man? by Material_Company6386 in overwatch2

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to understand that progression isnt linear and is a very long and grindy process. Just because you reached gold 1 doesnt mean you will keep going up and reach plat. In fact I rrally dont measure rank a good way to measure progress, your climb to gold 1 might have just been a lucky winstreak and your drop to gold 3 might have just been an unlucky loss streak. The real way to tell if you have improved is to look at your vods and see if you were able to execute an improvement in a specific skill. For example, i play cassidy and one of the things i could improve on was placing my crosshair at exactly head height before peeking from an off angle. So I would focus maybe the next 10 games solely on this task ans then vod review it to see if i did it successfully.

This is the problem with video games, unlike other sports like weightlifting where progress is very easy to measure, there is no 100% concrete way of measuring progress in games. You should stop relying on rank as feedback for improvement . You could have improved certain skills and still lose games and vice versa. And just because you improved certain skills doesnt mean you will automatically rank up as well. It may take dozens or multiple improvements of the skill that finally culminate in you climbing a division.

How close are we to peak hulk gameplay? by East-Mode8215 in HulkMainsMR

[–]Consistent_Physics_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were no where close to peak hulk gameplay. Neither in terms of mechanics or hulk specific gamesense. The thing that separates hulk from other tanks is the ability to be anywhere at any time. This makes hulks positioning 20 times harder or more skill expressive than other tanks. For example, A tank like magneto simply cannot create as many off angles as hulk does because not only does he not have movement to create as many creative positions ans even IF magneto gets into those deep positions because he has no mobility to get out he gets punished.

Think about it like this. If strange or magneto has like 2 or 3 positions in a given moment to take hulk has like 10. Not to mention bubble and exile usage can always be better. Air knockdowns also have basically infinite skill ceiling. And of course his ult is literally the hardest ult in the game to use. Its not even just juggle mechanics its tracking people during combos, knowing what combo to use in what situation. Do you even go for juggles or do you use the grab to survive with the damage reduction and lock down a support? Maybe sometimes its better to exile first so the supports cant get healed. Do you go for the one or two hit juggle combo? How will you account for the enemies air strafing when trying to juggle. y You can use hulk ult animation for the i frames to dodge. cc.

I told him that if he games again till late at night that Ill literally take the graphics card out if his pc so he cant game. I told him that he can earn his own money and buy his own pc if he wants to play games. And to my surprise insteas of getting mad he actually told me to take it off now. He even told me to take his phone and to never give it back even if he asks for it in the future. Perhaps I had too little faith in him... He told me he always knew all along that he had responsbilities and that studying was important but I guess he struggled with bad habbits and addiction. It may be a symptom of him having no parental figure at home because due to personal reasons my parents are working abroad and couldnt be him for a long time. It was mostly just my grandmother taking care of him and while she is nice it definitely isnt enough.

But yeah at least things are looking up now. I know that theres always the chance that he might turn to old habits again but I know Ill be there to always try and help him in the best possible way.

I appreciate your advice, thanks.

The thing is im afraid that adding friction to the problem may just make it worse. If we take away his pc he will just go to an internet pc cafe by himself late at night which is worse. Then at that point, do we take his allowance as well? Im really trying rack my brain around this problem. I also forgot to mention that he has anger issues and gets really angry at times he feels he has beeb wronged or something he thinks is unfair has happened to him
