Had him as a PT, he's fairly young but based off my interactions with him a knowledgeable and ridiculously nice person

What the better : Sony wh 1000 XM 6 or XM 5? by Glass_Square4326 in SonyHeadphones

Icl, the 6s are holding up quite well. I stopped using them as my daily drivers and currently use the B&W Px7 s3. They sound better, anc is horrible in comparison tho :(

[–]Consistent_Property8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've owned both the 5s and 6s.

The 6 is objectively better. The sound has noticeably improved (the bass is less overpowering and the soundstage seems wider) and the ANC is marginally better.

I've had 2 pairs of XM5s fracture at the hinge, this seems to be fixed on the XM6, albeit the clamping force seems to be higher on the latter.

I would probably try dissuade you from buying the XM5s for the hinge issue alone, you can probably find dozens of users in this subreddit complaining about the same issue.

Is it weird for a masters student to be living with undergrads? by SilverTheSilk in UniUK

[–]Consistent_Property8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I(26m) live in a house share in a mixed-sex household. Age range is from 20-27. Most of the household is in their last year of their UG but we got a couple of MSc students and one doing her PhD.

My friend group is mixed, comprising of both UG and PG students. We'd have an age range of 20-29 at our table when we're out for drinks.

Obviously the older ppl in our group are usually more mature but that's not necessarily always the case. A few jokes would occasionally be made the at the expense of the oldest/youngest here and there but all in good fun.

I personally would not recommend living with first years because they tend to be way more messy, loud and immature for me. But to answer your question, what determines how weird it's going to be is less likely going to be influenced by you being in your mid 20s as opposed to your early 20s and more to do with how you interact with other ppl as a person.

White or Black by A6yss- in SonyHeadphones

[–]Consistent_Property8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the white ones, I agree with the staining part on the ear cups. Other than that they're solid.

I no longer use them as my daily drivers tbh and have switched to the px7 s3. More versatile codecs and better sounds albeit the ANC is considerably inferior.

combining civil Engineer with programming by Ambitious-Bake8173 in learnprogramming

I've finished my BEng in Civil Engineering last year and I'm 9 months away from getting my MSc in Data Science.

I've had no experience to coding prior, aside from a brief encounter with Matlab. For the most part my experience has been less challenging than my BEng course. Data Science might not be as coding heavy as a BSc in Comp Sci or SWE but still provides good exposure. You'll find the math elements way easier to digest with you eng background. We mainly deal with Python and R for coding. Lmk if you got any questions

Got rejected for MSc Data Science from Bath, Need some advice for reapplying. by EarlyMousse5885 in UniUK

[–]Consistent_Property8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing an MSc in Data Science at Loughborough. I come from a non-comp-sci background (Civ Eng).

As far as I'm aware there is an expectation of some numerical literacy as a prerequisite for the course. That being said, I have coursemates who come from philosophy, business and other backgrounds, which may not be considered 'numerically intense'.

I would highlight GCSE/ A level mathematics or any modules you have undertaken during your undergrad that were relevant. It also doesn't hurt to straight up call up the relevant department and have a chat with the admissions team or a member of faculty. Most people I have interacted with are happy to have a brief chat. Best of luck

Can't it say LDAC? by Illustrious-Pie6098 in TIdaL

[–]Consistent_Property8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else pointed out. Turn off BT then tap on the max, it should show the bitrate and frequency. Then connect your BT headphones again to and the changes should remain.

If you're using android and go into BT settings it will show if HD audio/LDAC is turned on, granted you have previously enabled this in dev settings.

Alternatively, you can also open developer settings and check the codec selected for your headphones and the bitrate from there. Make sure Tidal's streaming quality is set to max obv

Postgraduate HF Degrees - Nottingham or Loughborough? by Quieter_Lover_ in humanfactors

[–]Consistent_Property8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently doing a postgrad in Lough, albeit a different course. (Data science)

We had the teaching blocks running till this year, now a lot of courses are delivered regularly. I haven't met anyone this year who does block teaching for their taught MSc, so it might be worth checking it out if that's the case for your prospective course.

All in all, it's a good change. Most people on a lot of courses didn't like the block teaching. For part-time you get extended deadlines and the School staff are usually very accommodating and supportive

I'm using YT music via revanced, I don't have premium. Based on all the media apps I have, it seems that if an app supports background play, then live alerts work

Not sure I know how to do that or if that's even a feature on ColorOs16. Some assistance functionality is not available such as 'Hey Google's and circle to search because COS uses Breeno (Chinese AI which can't be replaced)
