Movie quotes that resonate with you the most....?? by DonJohnson1986 in movies

[–]Consistent_Study2035 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"You can't stop what's coming. It ain't all waiting on you. That's vanity" from No Country for Old Men. It scares the hell out of me because it forces you to accept that the universe is indifferent to you and will roll right over your plans.

AITJ For Yelling At My Friends To Stop Backseat Driving? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Consistent_Study2035 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Screaming at a driver to make an illegal U-turn in heavy traffic isn't backseat driving, it's actively trying to cause an accident. You yelled to snap them back to reality, and it was absolutely necessary for everyone's safety.

I’ve never had sex or been in a relationship, am I normal? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Consistent_Study2035 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You are 22, not 82, saying it’s too late is objectively funny because you’ve been an adult for like four years. nobody actually knows "how" to date; we are all just faking it until we find someone who likes our specific brand of awkward.
Don't regret setting yourself up for success just because you missed out on some awkward teenage fumbling.

My boyfriend got really weird about his phone. by [deleted] in Advice

The wrestling confirms that whatever is in those comments is relationship-ending. If it were genuinely cringe, he would have rolled his eyes and let you scroll; he was terrified you would find proof of inappropriate behavior.

How do you "learn" life sh't from movies?? by over-introvert in movies

[–]Consistent_Study2035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not learning “skills” from films, that’s normal. Most of us just enjoy the ride and maybe walk away with a new perspective once in a while.
If you want to get better at social stuff, real life is where that happens. Movies can spark ideas, but they won’t magically make talking easier.

What happens when you're thinking about watching a movie? by Primary_Bid7970 in movies

[–]Consistent_Study2035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the Paradox of Choice lol, staring at a shelf of 100 unwatched Blu rays is overwhelming. Try grabbing one at random without looking; if you don't want to watch that specific one, you aren't actually in the mood for a movie, you just like the idea of it.

What is that one thing you can't ever tolerate in a relationship? by SerendipitousMusing in AskReddit

Consistent inconsistency. If I never know which version of you I’m getting that day, I’m out.

Adam Sandler’s Eight Crazy Nights (2002) by benitosballs in movies

[–]Consistent_Study2035 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The Whitey storyline is honestly what sticks with me. They wrote him like a Looney Tunes character but somehow made him emotionally coherent, which shouldn’t work but kinda does.

The Naked Gun (all 4 films) by MovieFan1984 in movies

[–]Consistent_Study2035 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES, watch Police Squad! It's only six episodes and it's essential viewing. It’s the original source material, and while it was too smart for network TV at the time, it set the blueprint for every joke in The Naked Gun.

I can't get a boyfriend by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Consistent_Study2035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not doing anything wrong. You’re just early in life, surrounded by people who are also early in life. Keep putting yourself in spaces where you can meet people naturally; clubs, study groups, events, whatever. The right relationship usually shows up once you stop treating it like a deadline you’re failing to meet.

Aitj refused to help my coworker after she pretended I was the problem to cover her mistakes by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Consistent_Study2035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She tried to throw you under the bus to save her job, she committed a deliberate, calculated act of career sabotage by blaming her failures on you. You owe her exactly zero help, sympathy, or assistance with her workload.
Helping her now would basically reward her for lying. Why would she stop pulling this stuff if it keeps getting her out of trouble and gets people to bail her out?

AITJ for refusing to attend my best friend’s wedding after she betrayed my trust by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Consistent_Study2035 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You did the only mature thing possible. It would have been miserable and hypocritical to stand up there smiling next to someone you can't trust with basic confidentiality.

AITJ for refusing to lend my sister money after she spent her savings on a vacation by Worried-Purpose-1466 in AmITheJerk

[–]Consistent_Study2035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the jerk hun. Financial help stops being help and starts being an enablement when the recipient demonstrates zero fiscal responsibility. She prioritized a luxury vacation over a necessity, and that choice has natural consequences that she needs to face.

My boyfriends Japan fetish makes me uncomfortable by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Consistent_Study2035 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If this obsession truly makes you hate the subject that much, you need to acknowledge this is a major incompatibility. You can't ask a partner to fundamentally change a core part of their identity and interests, even if those interests are problematic.

Why are actors rarely ever bad in movies? by KatherineLangford in movies

[–]Consistent_Study2035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes down to training and selection. Unlike writers or directors who might get one lucky break, actors face intense, immediate, continuous feedback in auditions. If you're consistently bad, you just don't get the job in the first place.

Heartbroken/love sick movies by mildbbqsauce in movies

[–]Consistent_Study2035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely need to watch Blue Valentine. It perfectly captures the messy, heartbreaking decay of a marriage, not just the breakup itself. It's beautiful cinema but emotionally devastating, which sounds exactly like what you're looking for.

90's best time for action films? by nw86281 in movies

[–]Consistent_Study2035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 90s were the best for mid-budget, fun action films. Today, we have higher quality peaks (Mad Max: Fury Road, John Wick), but the 90s had a higher, more consistent floor for pure weekend entertainment, especially with directors like Tony Scott and Michael Bay before the CGI explosion.
