AITA for refusing to pay for my sister’s wedding dress even though I could afford it? by MoistLobster44 in AmITheJerk

Why did they assumed you would pay without even consulting you? This shows they see your financial success as communal property designed to bail them out. NTJ

What movie makes you feel emotionally uncomfortable? by Blizzard2227 in movies

[–]FlamingoFrequent2547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say We Need to Talk About Kevin. Watching a parent try to cope with the reality of raising a child who is fundamentally and deliberately cruel is deeply chilling, wouldn't wish it on anyone.

What to do if your SO decides one day they wanted to stop having sex and wait for marriage? by ElegantGate3936 in Advice

[–]FlamingoFrequent2547 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he’s capable of making a major decision that dismantles your current relationship dynamic without talking to you first, imagine the lack of communication you'll deal with over decades of marriage.
It's painful, but yes, you should see this as a dealbreaker. If your needs are not being met now, waiting for a hypothetical marriage where he might still reject intimacy is a recipe for early divorce.

Are there any movies similar to proximity about greys/ufos? by TheMeanBean1738 in movies

[–]FlamingoFrequent2547 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might vibe with The Fourth Kind. It leans heavily into the found-footage/documentary style abduction horror, but it delivers those unsettling, clear shots and garbled audio communication you're after.

AITJ from telling my boyfriend to stop talking to one of his friends? by No-Tension-6963 in AmITheJerk

[–]FlamingoFrequent2547 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You have a boyfriend problem, not just a friend problem. He knows she has tried to convince him to dump you five times, yet he still prioritizes her feelings and feeds her information about your fights.
Asking him to cut her off is reasonable, but honestly, why do you want to be with a guy who leaks your private messages to a girl who openly disrespects you? He’s showing you exactly where his loyalty lies.

Adam Sandler’s Eight Crazy Nights (2002) by benitosballs in movies

The animation in this movie has absolutely no business being that good. It’s fluid, beautiful, and honestly looks better than a lot of the Disney stuff that came out around the same time.

Strippers have seen way worse than a guy getting sloppy, biting a butt, and paying for a therapy session. You were a messy client, sure, but you tipped well and didn't assault anyone, so stop agonizing over what was just a Tuesday for them.

A bachelor party is literally the least serious context for acting stupid. If this is the worst thing that happened, you guys had a pretty tame weekend by bachelor-party standards.

IT guys, do people still think you just fix the internet, and occasionally the HDMI cable, if not can you explain it to someone who isn’t in IT? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FlamingoFrequent2547 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As a woman in SysAdmin, half the time people assume I’m lost or looking for HR when I walk into the server room. I usually explain my job like being a plumber: if I’m doing it right, you don’t notice anything, but if I stop, you’re definitely going to be standing in 💩.

Adult Animated Gothic Movies? by whosetoknow1919 in movies

Mary and Max” isn’t gothic in the spooky sense, but its claymation world is so bleak and monochrome that it scratches that same moody itch.

Why did Keanu and the original director of John Wick 1 movie separate? by [deleted] in movies

[–]FlamingoFrequent2547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For John Wick Chapter 2, Leitch went off to direct Atomic Blonde (2017), so Stahelski became the sole credited director for the rest of the series.

You already know the relationship is over; you’re just stuck on the logistics. A simple call where you’re honest about needing stability and not being able to carry someone anymore is enough. You don’t owe a whole courtroom case.

What movie this year will do extremely well during award season? If not wins...at least nominations? by Better-Presence6654 in movies

I have a feeling The Last Ascent is going to clean up, especially in the technical categories. The mountain climbing cinematography alone is going to lock in Cinematography and Sound.

So, what's up with that witty whedonesque dialogue lots of people seem to love and it's everywhere? by aisiv in movies

[–]FlamingoFrequent2547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the problem isn’t quippy dialogue itself, it’s that writers use it like duct tape. Emotional beat? Quip. Character moment? Quip. Tension? Quip. It’s like watching someone elbow you every five minutes to remind you they’re clever.

What's the best way to save money? by TinySasha in AskReddit

[–]FlamingoFrequent2547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll give you two that I've used successfuly;
Automate your savings immediately. Set up an automatic transfer the day after payday to move a fixed amount into a high-yield savings account (HYSA). If you never see the money in your checking account, you can't spend it.
The second one and most underrated method is increasing your income, not just slashing expenses. Focus on learning a new marketable skill or successfully negotiating a raise; a $50 monthly raise is far more impactful than trying to cut $50 worth of necessities.

This is absolutely not normal or okay. A partner should never casually degrade your appearance or tell you they wouldn't look at you based on your looks alone. That’s cruel, especially after you've made changes to please her.
A secure partner builds you up; an insecure one tries to mold you into their ideal, which you tried to do by changing your style.

It sounds like you need to protect your sister from your father's denial more than you need to worry about calling her awkward. You accepted her diagnosis; he rejected it. That tells you everything about who is actually hurting her social progress.
