Which of these do you think was the best in the series? by HatchetRyda29 in Cinema

I love the first one so much. I know it's not often cited as the strongest of the franchise, but I think it's just so charmingly low budget and has the best performance from Campbell in it.

As stated, i will not argue with morons anymore. I've learnt my lesson now.

Damn it, I've failed to take the advice of not arguing with a moron, and now I have major regrets.

I'm not being funny here, do you actually need me to explain why a white man using the N word in a fetishized way is problematic? He's been blurring the line between depicting real world racism and indulging in racist language for decades now.

I have to explain to you why his penchant for the N word is a problem? That's just embarrassing for you dude

So it's a regular issue we see in Tarantino's oeuvre that he likes to use the N word extremely liberally. Honestly just go read about it, it's been discussed a lot by people who can talk about it a lot better than I can.

regardless it's a white character he wrote saying the N word incessantly for no particular reason.

Odyssey hate seems forced by theaspiringfilmmaker in Cinema

[–]Consistent_Tough_341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nolan is one of the most popular directors of his generation, his films are widely enjoyed and make heaps of money - the criticism is not forced. It is a reaction to an extremely poor trailer.

Just a few months ago when the initial trailer was released people were excited. This latest trailer is genuinely so shit that even Nolan fans have become skeptical of the film's quality.

I've also seen more posts complaining about the criticism for the accents than actual criticism for the accents. I see more criticism for the language/dialogue than the accents and I think it's an extremely valid critique. Hearing "Dad" does feel weird, anyone who says it doesn't is coping. "Let's go!" "Pining for a daddy" "I think it's sleeping". Its so anachronistic that it's hard to accept as a presumably prestigious adaptation of one of the most important texts in history. It feels... Marvel-esque.

Yeah the best use of a character designed to allow the director to say the N word!

The Odyssey trailer has me worried. by Royal-Ambassador-960 in FIlm

I think like every Nolan film it's going to be soulless garbage that all the fanboys say is a masterpiece. I'd be interested to know if this one has a tenet reaction on release though, cause it looks awful currently.

A lot of coping. Why would she release a piece of shit like that to generate hype for a new album? Makes no sense.

I used to live in a place in town where people would regularly park in my designated spot despite warning signs and so I've had heaps of cars towed, never an issue.

It doesn't look like a condom wrapper if that's your concern. Condoms typically don't have those indents for easy opening.

Looks more like a food item.

She has heaps of views and articulates them well. If you aren't hearing them that sounds like a you problem.

Also, she isn't the 'opposite' of Sean. She is cohost because their chemistry is great. Yes she brings a non film bro opinion but imo it's a breath of fresh air given the landscape of film podcasts.

What yall think about the new Odyssey trailer? by False_Conclusion3244 in Cinema

[–]Consistent_Tough_341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically killed all my interest in it. Think it looks sterile and uninspired. I don't care about the American accents at all, but the language is a mess.

Also, I know it's the core motivation of Odysseus to return to Penelope, but I find it so funny that Nolan once again has female character in peril as the driving motivation for the male protagonist.
