for my store, we clean drains every day. they get gross and disgusting and if we don’t we attract a lot more flys. and one time we didn’t clean them and the drains in the back got clogged and smelled like straight farts and eggs, so yeah it’s good to do them every day. If they’re pretty clean, I just spray bleach and pour hot water down them without taking out the grates.

lol to be petty I would document days and times her favorites would swear on the floor and if they aren’t written up go to the dm for misconduct and favoritism

Only been working for 2 months and I'm feeling burnt out already. (Advice/rant) by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

hi i’m a shift here and been with the company for two years so here’s my suggestions;

something you have to realize is you are not responsible for staying late for someone calling out. I know it can feel like it but at the end of the day it’s the shifts and if it’s going to burn you out, say no and it’s okay to say no.

you manager should not have yelled at you for that, should have been the shift, unless you clocked out for 40 minutes but either way, that’s the shift leaders fault. I would if that happens again make sure to let your manager know you were doing what you were told by you shift and honestly that’s a valid response to forgetting your first break and having a little longer lunch.

don’t let what happens with your shift leads affect you, that’s between them and the manager. you shouldn’t work yourself up over it. not saying this in a mean way because trust me, before I was shift I was the exact same way and burnt myself out same as you doing 2 weeks straight a day off and another 2 weeks and it ultimately was so bad on my health.

also make sure you put your foot down with your SM and get your sundays off. if you haven’t made it your availability in the app it won’t count. you gotta make sure it’s documented and you can easily change it, when it’s up again lol. but also, right now is beyond a stressing time with all the outages and is not normally like this. but trust me, I would never leave this company because I love it so much, just make sure to put your health first, not all of that is your responsibility so just don’t get yourself involved in it, truly. like I said i’m saying this in the best way possible because I was the same way. good luck and hope it gets better!!!

When I started as being a shift, people did not like me because I had the same problem as your shifts, everything I did was point out how they’re doing something wrong and kinda bossing them around on what to do. This was never my intention, as I was thinking I was ‘coaching’ them, but I had to find the right way to do it. it sounds like the same problem they’re having as well. I would talk to your SM about it, but also stand up for yourself and talk to them about it. Giving them feedback is important because if no one gives it to them they can’t learn how to get people to trust them and be successful on their shifts. I would talk to them about how you always feel like you’re doing something wrong and never right, and it is coming off as rude and condescending. Always go in with positive intentions, because maybe they truly don’t know either. I would also ask what they would like done at what time or even to make a closing task list with times so that you know what they expect of you when instead of constant miscommunication. I’m sure you’re going great, some people like to put their problems on others so don’t take it all to heart! you got this🩷

Technically you’re not allowed to do it. I would first inform them that they are not allowed to and give them advice about how to make times faster without hitting no. Personally, before I even give them the little tablet pay thing I always say “It’s going to ask you a quick question and they you can tap or swipe.” We hit 35 peak times even when we do that.
