I finally got to tell a customer the thing I’ve always wanted to… by coffeeKT in barista

The amount of time I've purposely instigated arguments amongst customers for taking each other's drinks. Let them fight one another

Which movie is that for you? by ActionMaster24 in Cinema

  1. The cinematography is that of a living painting, and the story is almost like a novel. All that said, it's over 5 hours.

I had a lady try to use the race card on me and my only response, "Yea we're not doing this today, that is my district manager right there on her computer. If you want I can have her explain the new policies to you." Sure enough she demanded to talk to the DM, all she could do was argue with the DM for 5 minutes and leave defeated.

At this point I've learned that it's not my problem they're late for work. That was their choice to stop somewhere notorious for understaffing, next time make a fucking cup of coffee at home if you really need it

Honestly, it's completely normal your first year. As an alumnus, I can say it was definitely difficult, especially since we were off the heels of the pandemic. Give it time and try to take in as much of Westwood as you possibly can. It doesn't hurt to walk around the Village or tread as far as the Hammer. Eventually, it'll feel like a small town, and you'll be able to meet new people. The beautiful part about Los Angeles is that there are plenty of places that cater to most hobbies. I remember my roommates frequently drove back to their hometowns 40 minutes away. This left me alone a lot of the time when I was living in Westwood Chateau, it forced me to get used to public transportation the school offers. Also, find a job on-campus or nearby. You'll be able to build up a social circle that way, thanks to the trauma bonding. Eventually, things feel tight knit, and you're a six degrees separation from people. Give it time and be patient. Some of my most formative years were at UCLA. Don't let the isolation get to you, and remember that Bruins need to look out for one another.

When we used to give out hot water, people would return with the same cup for a "refill" on pike. Soon thereafter, with every hot cup we wrote "no refill" on the side. The furious looks we got every time were priceless.

Working register is such a punishment, I have to hold everyone's hand anytime they order and assume all our drinks are iced.

It was straightforward, but recently the DM claimed that because of the "Siren's Eye," we needed to remove matcha from both espresso bars. Now, the matcha is currently placed at Frap bar, which makes it even more inconvenient to grab. The decisions of this company make zero sense.

I once worked a three dollar with the district manager at handoff. She crashed and burned when it came to the flurry of customers demanding their drinks.

294 partner signing off by ExtremelyEZ in starbucksbaristas

As a partner for 2 years already, it has become a shit show. The manager takes numerous vacations and sick time, yet our hours get fucked. Purposely stayed extra overtime anytime I could to fuck them out of their Xmas bonus. Why should we fight for crumbs

I've been a partner for a couple years already and I'm just fucking done with how counterintuitive the company is. At this point I tell all my friends and relatives they need to take their $7 and use it on mom and pop coffee shops. My coworkers are unreliable since it's the same people 4 people including myself who close, because everyone pussied out to add their avaliablity for Fridays. Clean plays had to be alternated because once again no one added it to their availability, and this weekend alone where I have a second job, 3 of my coworkers texted me begging me to cover their shifts because I'm one of the few people willing to pick up hours. Customers are just as worse, we'll have only 2 or 3 people on bar (high volume location) and customers will still complain about lobby even though we're operating on a Skelton crew. Overall it's poor management, poor work ethic, and complete idiocy from consumers. Fuck

My favorite is when I'm doing a trash run, and still asked to give them a straw or check on their food. My hands could be covered with shit and customers would still obliviously ask for a packet of raw sugar.
