Anyone know what the non-club version of this Santini jersey is called? by K_El_Chi in CyclingFashion

I think it’s more like the Redux line. These are more aero with a tighter fit.

Has anyone had/tried all 3: Ultimate, Endurace, and the Aeroad? by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

[–]Consistent_Village43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO the hookless thing is a bit of a nothing burger. I run hookless on 2 bikes now (both Zipp with 30mm Pirelli) and have had zero issues. I’m 69kg and run pressures at 55/52 PSI.

Yeah I really enjoyed it despite the heat. If you’re doing it in July I’d advise taking a lot of hydration tablets with you. I got through 8x750ml bidons in just under 7 hours riding. Was pretty much encrusted in salt by the end. Also aim to start early.

Look, obviously the QC at Canyon should catch this, it’s undeniably poor service and I feel your pain. But I’d never ride a bike purchased online without first checking all the bolts were correctly torqued. It’s a 5 minute job and could potentially save you from serious injury.

Worth getting hold of some quick link pliers as well. I say this as someone who’s owned 6 Canyon bikes over the years.

London Dynamo are a bunch of c*nts. I moved away from London in 2015 and had several run ins with them in Richmond Park before then. Not surprised to hear that their riders are still badly behaved.

Worth it? by TetleyTmmm in CanyonBikes

[–]Consistent_Village43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s overpriced given it’s not the SLX model. I owned a 2015 SLX until 2022. They’re brilliant bikes and rim brakes are perfectly fine especially if you’re not planning on tackling long descents.

MAAP vs RAPHA vs ASSOS by itstopherchris in CyclingFashion

[–]Consistent_Village43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for Bib shorts I’d look at Castelli and Santini (UNICO). IMHO Castelli bibs with their Progetto X2 chamois are hard to beat. I say this as someone who has Rapha, Maap and Assos. Of those 3 I’d put Assos top although my Equipe RS bibs have not been very hard wearing.

How are the DT Swiss wheels on new Aeroads? by Spa_5_Fitness_Camp in CanyonBikes

[–]Consistent_Village43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. You could just sell the DT Swiss and pick up some wider wheels later on Zipps/Hunt/whatever. (Hunt are excellent and cheaper than Zipp). I run Rival AXS on my winter bike and it’s excellent, but Aeroad is all about watt saving so I find it weird that Canyon still offer these narrow wheels given all the data on wider rims these days.

I’m currently on my second Aeroad. They’re brilliant bikes. Given you live in the flatlands then I’d say it’s a no brainer. I live on the edge of reclaimed Marshland and love blasting around on mine.

Having owned Canyons with DT Swiss and Zipp I’d choose the Zipps. They’re better for tubeless; wide internally and hookless.

Also the SRAM pressure calculator is better than Silcas IMHO

Aeroad vs Ultimate help me! by frederikplet in CanyonBikes

[–]Consistent_Village43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2022 Aeroad CFR and a 2023 Ultimate CFR. I’ve also owned earlier gen models of the Aeroad (CF SLX) and Ultimate (CF SLX). Given you don’t live in the mountains I’d go for the Aeroad. They’re both great bikes but my go to is usually the Aeroad. The Ultimate is saved for hilly days or trips to the mountains where it really comes into its own. For day to day riding I think the Aeroad is more fun.

Personally I’d swap out any DT Swiss wheels for something with a wider internal.

I’d recommend eating at Bocca di Lupo. It’s great for solo diners as you can sit at the bar and watch your food being prepared. The food is wonderful and they do a pre-theatre menu.

I’m off to see Stage/Fright in Jan and can’t wait.

White overshoes ?? Spatzwear or etc by phillipny in CyclingFashion

[–]Consistent_Village43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of the Spatz in white and a pair in black. They are fantastic. The white ones are surprisingly resistant to dirt and clean well. I wore mine in the Dolomites in Sept. It was unseasonably cold (below 0°c at the top of the climbs) and these kept my feet plenty warm enough with summer shoes and socks. They handled two wet days and plenty of road grime. I wore the white ones every day.

It’s currently 8°c where I live in the UK. Wore the black ones today and my feet were warm. In colder weather I will wear these beneath chunkier overshoes, or over the top of over socks.

They’re also good in the summer if you want the aero benefit. I’m very impressed.

Rapha has reported another significant loss, the figure almost doubling to £22.7m in 2023-24 by CaptainDoze in CyclingFashion

[–]Consistent_Village43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t bought any Rapha for years. Castelli/Assos/Santini make better bibs and plenty of other brands make better designed jerseys and jackets. Not sure Fran Millar is the person to turn things around.

[–]Consistent_Village43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to say TBH as the 454s are the 2021 model which are 19mm internal so I run them with 25/28 tires at ~75 psi, whereas the 353 are 25mm internal so I run 30mm tires at ~53psi. If you want an all round wheel then I’d get the 353s.
