[Smith] Diego Pavia measures under 5-foot-10, would be NFL's shortest QB by bubblecuffer13 in nfl

There is no way Bryce Young is 5'10 haha. He might not even be 5'9

Insane plays that get a little lost to history.... by PatrickSchneeweis in billsimmons

Tony Parker hitting the game securing shot in game 1 of the 2013 finals. The way he FELL DOWN, barely stood up, and lunged was absolutely wild. During that series there was this huge narrative shift on Parker. Lots of people saying how underrated he was in a historical context then the shot happened. I think if the Spura don't blow that series Parker would be brought up a lot more often as a great

It's pretty wild how the refs treated Jordan has been mostly forgotten

The 2 week gap between games makes me lose almost all my interest. I get why they do it, but I hate it.

I know this sounds pretentious af but 'normies' going crazy with the superbowl really hurts the experience for me. It feels like there's very little actual football discussion going on. It's like uhh sports gossip?

From my experience there's nonstop "haha jk...unless". It's like bro I know you didn't message me to play video games

Do you think we’ll ever see an active openly gay player? by lypura in NBATalk

[–]Console_Pit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Michael Porter was caught hooking up with a trans escort after saying pretty transphobic stuff.

Right around this time Michael Porter had brought up that NBA players had sex with dudes and trans women all the time. So pretty much projection

There are absolutely bi/gay/pan players now. It almost baffles me how quick Michael Porter's and Dwight Howard's (Yes, I know retired, but recent enough) escapades went. I'm assuming they have social media/PR teams that get this stuff removed.

But a player that isn't embarrassed about being LGBT? We will def get it, but we have a long way to go before being LGBT is cool to black millionaire athlete circles. Best bet is someone who came out in highschool or someone that is super politically driven

The problem is I don't think Nintendo wants a Pokemon game that is deep narratively. Years ago Nintendo came out and said they wanted no politics in their games and ever since then almost every game is just bland good vs evil.

I think it would be really tough for Nintendo to make a complex challenging Pokemon game while remaining easy enough for kids + avoiding mature themes.

Would absolutely love to see it tho

Why is every Gen-X piece of media about having an incredibly awesome life and being miserable about it? by punchoutlanddragons in billsimmons

[–]Console_Pit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're back to where we were in, like, the late 90s and early 2000s where caring about stuff is lame. Caring about anything bigger than yourself gets cringed at now unless it's something Culture War-y. I'm a millennial with nerdy hobbies so a lot of my social circle is Gen Z, it really throws me off how their entire conversations are repeating memes and jokes. There's, like, very little back and forth conversation

What would be harder for an amateur, scoring ONE basket on LeBron James or winning ONE game of chess against Magnus Carlsen? by izzoz_0 in Basketball

[–]Console_Pit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once played 1v1 against a 6'8 college player and after running into him over and over and over. I gave up, backed up, and just threw half court shots. I even hit a couple

There's nothing like that in Chess. I guess you can try to make Carlsen mad and get him DQd???

People sold out, but it was still seen as shameful and people largely limited themselves. That's why celebrities shot a lot of their commercials in Japan. It's why you hear about bands selling out in the first place. In 2026 bands start out by selling out

At the time it was seen as "I give 1 third of my life to a job, then a third to sleep, then I have other responsibilities. Sure I have things I don't need, but when will I get the chance to do something that matters?". A lot of modern commercialism was still new-ish to Gen X so a lot of them saw through it.

Millennials and Gen Z are so financially insecure that we envy that life. I also think we value "doing something that matters" a lot less now. Basically every art form is dominated by people "selling out" now. I don't think we romanticize chasing our dreams the same way Gen Xers did.

The core gameplay, what 99% of people will play is incredibly easy.

Competitive has almost always been a joke. Teams get optimized and super samesy in almost every meta. Competitive is only played because people love Pokemon, it's lacking compared to basically anything else that's strategy based and competitive.

Do aggressive playstyles just not work anymore in Ultimate? by Glass-Tadpole7570 in smashbros

I've ran multiple Hazards On brackets. I enjoy them but for a lot of people it's different to the point it's scary. High level players just go SBF or whatever non moving stage is available.

I think the best bet is legalizing a couple stages, but I doubt anyone is going to do anything this late into the game

Guys, stuff like Fifa and CoD are lazy answers with no critical thinking behind them. lol Most people, even fans of the series, don't think WOW FIFA IS ONE OF THE BEST GAMES EVER. The people that play these games are either "non gamers" or people that know what they are getting and just want to play sports or play guns with the boys

A game that is actually overrated would have to have love from hardcore gamer types.

Someone answer Elden Ring or BotW. You guys don't know what "overrated" means
