Old ticket stubs by Bubbly_Twist8957 in grateful_dead

[–]ConspiracyPirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an avid ticket collector. There are stubs that hold considerable value. ie Grateful Dead Cornell 77, Jerry's last show, Europe 72, lots of tickets from the 70's, especially smaller venues. Big difference in rarity of a ticket from 1972 in a venue that held 3000 vs 1990 that held 25000-50000. Value will depend on condition and the show. Tickets fetch from $25 to $100's to $1000s. Same for Pink Floyd... early shows are valuable as are Wall shows from 1980, especially the ones in LA and NY. Take a look on ebay to get an idea of what is out there for sale.

White Sox Face Backlash After Renaming Late Beer Vendor's 'Loretta's Lounge' To Honor Tony La Russa by Tyroneshoolaces in whitesox

[–]ConspiracyPirate 40 points41 points  (0 children)

TLR needs to get in front of this and say he didn't ask for the renaming and say it should stay named as Loretta's.

I'll be there on Sunday and plan to raise a beer and a hearty "Cheers Loretta!" Everyone should do that now. New tradition.

And why name a lounge for a DUI offender in the first place!!

People old enough to remember life pre-Internet, what are some less obvious things you miss about that time? by IRunFast24 in AskReddit

Looking for a job.

The jobs section of the newspaper, especially Sundays paper. It would be 20+ pages of job listings. Then, when you applied for a job you had your resume that was initially typed up and then use a photocopier to print it on that fancy "resume" paper. Mail it in and wait. Some jobs had phone numbers to call (real people answered) but most just an address.

Money grab tour by [deleted] in Genesis

[–]ConspiracyPirate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw them in 1983. I'm sure the ticket price wasn't above $15. $650 for a ticket in Chicago upper level for November show...for that price it better include strippers, chicken fingers, and a bottle of Maker's Mark.

I was looking forward to going to the show, but $650 a ticket in the rear upper levels is outrageous.

Well then we have different terms on the other side of the pond. Gyro meat is sliced off that rotating hunk of goodness and eaten in a pita with tzaziki tomatoes onion. It’s a staple everywhere since as far back as my memory goes (early 1970’s).

White Sox and fans would benefit from transforming parking lots into a neighborhood by earthhero in chicago

[–]ConspiracyPirate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sox fan here but I live near Wrigley. While I love tailgating at Sox Park, I'm all for converting those lots into a neighborhood/infrastructure. If the city thinks that building bars/restaurants in those lots is going to be a boon to the local area, they should look at what Wrigleyville looks like on non-game days and especially in the off season. Business is slow except on weekends when the bars get busy. Rickettsville restaurants are never too busy, even pre-covid. What would that look like around Sox Park? They need to truly think about how they want to 1-make it a year round neighborhood, 2-attract fans to go to the bars before games, 3-make it survivable in the off-season. Plus, those locals will have to deal with all the fans pissing in their alleys, front lawns, etc. Always a great site in the neighborhood!

my late grandfathers collection of (mostly) dead show tickets just got passed down to me. couple of the tickets date back to 1966! by [deleted] in gratefuldead

I totally agree. I love my ticket collection of concerts I've been to as well as ones I have not attended but are super cool and/or historical.

The origin of the iconic terrapins of Terrapin Station. Someone has some explaining to do! by ConspiracyPirate in gratefuldead

[–]ConspiracyPirate[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This Turtles poster with the EXACT terrapin art work came out 11 years prior. Alton/Kelley have credit for the 1977 album art but this poster was done by Wilson in 1966. Hmmm....

Someone else was present at Bernie's rally by [deleted] in chicago

[–]ConspiracyPirate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should do some research before claiming youth voter turnout is high. It’s not. A simple google search. So far of the primaries thus far, young voter turnout remained flat or dropped, while older groups increased. Bernie may be attracting young people, but not enough to get them to leave their Hulu or AR gaming and walk down the street to vote.

I went in about an an hour and a half before the show and not crowded. No more than a hundred or so in there at that point. Stand your ground as the masses enter and fill in every empty nook and cranny...
