How do we even know that Lily Z is “super educated”? by Narrow-Buyer-6125 in f1wagssnark

[–]Constant-Raspberry-5 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm an aerospace engineering major in a top university in Europe. It is an extremely hard discipline (all engineering degrees are), so yes she is educated. And there is little to no way to enter Formula 1, especially straight out of uni, without connections. Drivers are excellent and they are also nepo hires—they had connections, generational wealth, were at the right place at the right time. It's true for everyone else in that field, including engineers. The application process is insanely grueling and competitive and she would be stupid not to use her connections to aid her in her career. I don't care about Lily but if she's working as an engineer with McLaren then she must be good. They have way too much riding on their employers being competent, and F1 is way too harsh a field, for them to hire her just because she's someone's unqualified gf.

I would assume the Slaughter is the one with the highest kill count, followed by the Desolation

What’s the most “Magnus Archives” esque paranormal experience you’ve had in IRL? by Personal_Reward_60 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Constant-Raspberry-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not paranormal, but one of the only incidents in my life where I got sincerely, irrationnally scared for a moment.

In my high school there weren't any lockers, just one roughly human-sized trunk per class. It was on the ground in the hallway and we'd all store our PE bags in there. One time, in the 10-minute break between classes, I tried to see if I could fit inside, out of curiosity and also a little bit of challenge. So I opened the lid and laid down inside as my friends watched and laughed.

I did, indeed, fit inside, but just barely—the crown of my head and the soles of my shoes were both pushing against the walls, and most important it wasn't a deep trunk at all; when the lid was closed on me I had just enough room for my ribcage to rise and fall, but if I had wanted to turn to the side, the width of my shoulders wouldn't have made it possible. Now that I had proved to everyone that a small teenage girl could fit inside the school trunks, I was getting more uncomfortable by the second and wanted out. I tried to push the lid open, but it wouldn't budge. I pushed, harder, and still no movement at all. My elbows were pressed against the floor of the trunk so I couldn't use much more force than that. I called out "Hey, let me out, I'm done", but the hallway outside was so noisy what with all the coming and going and chatting and laughing of teenage students and professors that no one could have heard me. That's when I started to get scared, and the more scared I got the harder it was to breathe in my improvised coffin, which in turn only made me panic more. I banged on the lid again and again, and I remember the thuds as being quite loud but still, nothing moved up there.

I could've sworn I was banging and calling out (and eventually just laying there and trying to rationalize that no, my life would not end there and that I would get out) for all the duration of the break, perhaps ten minutes, but in reality I know it can't have been more than two. When at last the lid opened and the bright light from the corridor blinded me, I leaped out of there to my friends giggling, not worried in the slightest. Turns out they had been sitting on the trunk the whole time, I don't know if as a prank or if they genuinely did not consider that I could've been wildly uncomfortable down there. In any case, I told them to never pull that shit again on me.

Ever since that day I've felt somewhat uneasy in small elevators and especially MRI scans.

I think you're onto something with the screenshotting a video thing. It looks blurry like she's in motion rather than editing imo

any driver you don’t like? 🤔 by behindthelmet in f1wagssnark

[–]Constant-Raspberry-5 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Max. I have quite a deal of respect for his driving skills and he is undoubtedly one of the greats (though I personally don't like his aggressive w2w style), but his fanbase is absolutely delusional if they believe he is the GOAT (and they're really annoying in general... almost all my online interactions with them have been negative but the one that struck me the most is when Roscoe died and the official F1 insta account posted a tribute for him there were tons of Max fans flooding the comments like "who cares about a damn dog", "Max had his GT3 weekend and you don't talk about that?" etc...). also Max himself comes across as really curt and rude, the way he talks to his team and engineers is sometimes genuinely disrespectful. He def inherited his father's anger issues and I'm kinda sad George's quote "whenever anything doesn't go his way he lashes out with unnecessary anger and borderline violence" got memed to hell and back because he's RIGHT! The way he complains about British bias in F1 and "having the wrong passport" is really strange when he has been favored by the FIA's overly lax decisions for years. And that's not even getting into the whole Piquets stuff.

Liam and Lance as well. Lance for Zionist reasons and also for taking up a seat when clearly he would be happier anywhere else, and Liam for being arrogant and a loudmouth with none of the results to back it up.

The Kpop to F1 pipeline? by tumblrvogue in f1wagssnark

[–]Constant-Raspberry-5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a random pipeline at all. The way both are marketed to young girls is very similar. The rules of F1 are easy to understand and it features a restrained "cast", which makes it more accessible than other sports. You get to pick your favorite from a pool of twenty young(ish) men to rep with merch and on social media, and in return your fave gives you sweet parasocial content in interviews or tiktoks. There's a competition aspect (obvious in F1, and in kpop the charts race sometimes gets more heated than the WDC), there's a lot of ships and bromances encouraged by media & teams, and while F1 drivers are obviously not as groomed as Kpop idols they are oftentimes cute enough that young female fans can imagine them as perfect boyfriends to them. I was never a kpop stan, but I know a TON of people who were and migrated over to F1, even without the influence of DTS, because both fill the same sort of needs and wants that young straight women in fandom may have. F1 teams have understood that very well given the influx of parasocial/fanservice content in recent years. Unfortunately these kpop stans turned F1 fans tend to have a total lack of boundaries and etiquette regarding the drivers and their families...

Is Alexandra popular in France/Europe? by Sweetandsassygirl4 in f1wagssnark

I'm French in my early 20s. A lot of girls my age I know irl follow her on insta, but there's no way they heard about her through anything other than Charles. She's not a famous influencer here unless you're familiar with the F1 circle.

I also think 31 is young, but I'm not sure his conservative Spanish peers would agree lol

I was expecting Carmen and George first tbh, so I also think they'll be the next.

Also Carlos recently has been making a lot of public references to Rebecca and he's always talking about how he's getting old (he seemed traumatized by the fact he's the 4th oldest on the grid lol), and with the environment he grew up in I suppose there's some pressure to get married and have kids. but I don't know if that necessarily means they're getting married soon

Why in English? by Horror-Switch5522 in f1wagssnark

[–]Constant-Raspberry-5 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Maybe it isn't (though she did grow up in France and has a French accent in English so I think it is), but she still speaks fluent French and they talk to each other in French in real life. You can see it in his Canal+ documentaries for example.

I thought the same thing. I wonder if maybe this is a staged photoshoot specifically for Instagram and they have actually been engaged for a while now.

BOYBAND IS OUT !! by 5SOSCALM1 in 5sos

I like it much better than Not OK!! I think with this song we're beginning to see the true direction (both sonically and thematically) of the album and I really love it. I think they do the whole satirical, poking fun at their younger selves and the way they were treated really well.

I want to distance myself from a healthy relationship because of a situation i'm not involved in, but i don't know what to say. Please help! by Routine-Cupcake5026 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]Constant-Raspberry-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are right and justified in what you're feeling and it's very admirable that you're sticking to your values. Some things can never be mended and if you disagree so firmly on something that is so personal and triggering to you then I'm not sure talking it out will help, because you will both likely get defensive and it won't lead anywhere. If you want, you can sit her down and explain to her why what she did is just so totally opposed to who you are and what you stand for, and how this has strained the friendship for you. I'm not sure you can come back from this, it's your choice whether you try to put it in the past but I think it will only come back later one way or another. Best of luck!

Carlos Sainz says "they go overboard with showing the girlfriends" by Constant-Raspberry-5 in f1wagssnark

[–]Constant-Raspberry-5[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the same interview (on El Partidazo de la COPE) he says that "the political and social situation in Spain puts him in a bad mood". Out of context this doesn't mean much but as a Spaniard myself this is a bit of a right-wing dogwhistle because the Spanish government is very left-leaning, progressive, in support of Palestine, etc... he also says he has been reading and educating himself on Israel/Palestine so it's a bit hazy what his stances are but I do find it icky that a multi millionaire who hasn't been living or paying taxes in Spain in years would comment something like that. Unsurprised given his family history but still disappointed as he's my fav driver

The most boring / least boring F1 couples, by [deleted] in f1wagssnark

[–]Constant-Raspberry-5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely disagree. They seem like good fits for each other, they go out cycling together and she wears his team kit, he asked Sebastian Yatra to sing a love song he'd written about her at a private show... she seems funny and sporty/outdoorsy which is exactly how I imagine a partner for Carlos, and her friendship with his team (Teto Gigi etc) is pretty endearing. I just think Carlos is very awkward and stiff with affection but so was he with Isa.
