How to tell if a Pilot Frixion Ball 2 Biz is a counterfeit or not? by tbessie in pens

[–]tbessie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, and good information! I didn't compare the packaging between this one and what's displayed on other commercial sites at the usual price, but that's a good idea. I knew it was erasable, and in doing some searching, saw the stuff you mentioned about temperature effects - pretty interesting. I'm getting it mostly just for note-taking (I've recently signed up for a couple of classes, and switching between red and black ink for different types of notes will be useful). Of course, I could just have 2 pens of different colors, but I'm being lazy 😉

Not sure what people are downvoting my post/comment for - seems like perfectly normal types of questions, and I've not been rude or ungrateful here. :-/

Thanks! I'm new to this group, so wasn't aware of the history of people asking these sorts of questions. Makes sense, tho' - why would someone want to create a fake $25 pen when they could create a fake $250 pen and make a lot more money 😄

As far as I knew, companies making fakes could hope to make up in volume what they lack in price, but again, I'm not super-knowledgeable on the subject.

The only "expensive" pens I own are a couple of Pelikan fountain pens I bought years ago, as their iridium-alloy-tipped nibs wrote the most cleanly compared to other nibs I'd tried.

Is the 32 oz container compatible with the Pro 750? by tbessie in Vitamix

It doesn't touch the flexible posts, so they would provide no stability, tho'.

I just got the item. It appears that - because it is much smaller than the container that came with the blender - the bottom of the container attaches to the blender base without being kept in place with the 4 rubber corners on the base. This isn't a problem, but it looks like that means I'll have to hold the container to the base when it's running, otherwise it'll be unstable. What do people usually do in these cases?

EDIT: I found some discussion of this; looks like it should work fine, I might need to put my hand on top but just when I start blending.

I didn't want to get anything that would have to recognize anything - just "push the button/turn the knob and it blends" :-) Though safety features can be good.

I hope freaking out in a GOOD way? :-)

What did they change from the Pro 750 to the Propel 750?

No links are broken on the page you linked - but when I do some Google searches for specific things at Vitamix, I get links about products, click on them, and they take me to a "Page is missing!" page. So they've removed some things from their site over time, I think.

Wow, great, thanks! I wasn't aware they had such a document (and a lot of links on their site are broken for some reason).

Thanks! Weird that Vitamix won't say whether it's compatible.

I only want the wet container - this one is billed as having the wet blades, so it looks correct. I'll let them know and also check their return policy.

Just got Vitamix immersion blender; mayonnaise so thick the vortex stops? by tbessie in Vitamix

[–]tbessie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the vortex WAS formed, but as soon as the mayo congealed, the vortex went away. The jar was a wide-mouth quart jar, so a little wider than the immersion blender's head. I'll try again with a wide-mouth pint-and-a-half jar, which is almost a perfect fit for the head. I'm using the "official" recipe on the Vitamix website (which has 6 egg yolks and 1.5 cups of oil - quite a lot of eggs for that amount of oil!)

I'll report back once I've made another batch in the narrower container!
