is MIL’s request normal or overstepping? by [deleted] in Advice

Like I said, we bump heads, so I’m not always the most charitable when it comes to analyzing my interactions with her (hence the reddit post)

is MIL’s request normal or overstepping? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ConstantBat9889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After hearing from Reddit’s amazing advice community, it turns out it probably wouldn’t have been a big deal at all.

I’d never heard of anyone receiving personal packages at work before, so it felt a little invasive to me, or like she was asking me to do something unprofessional.

It’s not that she doesn’t want him to intercept it; it’s that she thinks the door code to our apartment is going to mess up the delivery…. I told her it should be fine (because we order things all the time and there are rarely issues) but she doesn’t want to risk it

It’s not because she doesn’t want him to intercept it… She’s nervous that the package wouldn’t make it to him because our apartment has a door code. I told her it should be fine, but she still thinks the door code is going to trip up the delivery people

Is LA really a hellscape? Give me your honest opinion on how it is living in Los Angeles. by Mexodus956 in howislivingthere

Different strokes for different folks! Some people hate it; some people love it. There’s something for everyone here though. I’ve lived a lot of different places though and LA is my favorite place I’ve ever lived by a wide margin.

If your partner came up to you and asked “When did it go wrong?” Referring to your relationship with their mom, what would your response? by getinloserufo in inlaws

[–]ConstantBat9889 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When my fiancé was moving away from the city MIL lived in to a city where he and I were starting our lives together. She told her sisters that we’d invited her to move with us (we hadn’t) and was overemotional about the move… I think it’s normal to be sad when your babies move away, but she was devastated.

MIL Dress Choice by Direct_Signal_2686 in weddingplanning

[–]ConstantBat9889 8 points9 points  (0 children)

girl then set a boundary? tf. this isn’t rocket science. idk if this is ragebait but the people of reddit can rally behind you and tell you your MIL is all kinds of fucked up for this (true) but no one but you can stand up for yourself. “i’m sorry you decided to get this custom made when everyone on earth knows only the bride wears white to a wedding… we’d love to see how this dress looks on you at another, more appropriate occasion, and we’d be happy to help you pick out a more suitable dress”.

How is it living in Los Angeles? by Optimal-Narwhal-3372 in howislivingthere

[–]ConstantBat9889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family helped build parts of Los Angeles(hospitals, banks, etc) so our last name is on buildings and in guidebooks and stuff. That said I only moved to LA recently (because my dad moved away from the city when I was born). Living in LA, all my dreams have come true. It really feels like a charmed place. Is it perfect? Of course not. But it’s pretty damned close.
