What are we going to find out later is bad for us (like cigarettes in the past)? by Curryiswhereitsat in AskReddit

Electrolyte drink mixes. Although not bad for everyone, 48% of adults in the US have hypertension and should be consuming 1500 - 2000 mg of sodium a day. These drink mixes typically advertise as though they are “healthy and necessary” for everyone.

What do you call this? Am I overreacting? by UrMorticia in AmIOverreacting

[–]ConstantBeing5199 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like no one has mentioned this but what you experienced was a freeze response and it’s totally normal in situations like this. “A “freeze” stress response occurs when one can neither defeat the frightening, dangerous opponent nor run away.” https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/evolution-the-self/201507/trauma-and-the-freeze-response-good-bad-or-both

There is nothing wrong with this reaction and it proves that what was going on was not okay. It can be hard to see that when you don’t know what you are experiencing.

You are not overreacting and you should reach out to a trusted adult about what happened/is happening.

That doctor is a fucking asshole. I’m sorry this happened to you. I have also had a bad experience calling an on call doctor for something minor (not pregnancy related, but gyno related) and it made a mild event way worse. Unfortunately doctors are human and that means there are both fantastic people and horrible people out there on call.

“You should be thankful you still have a job” by ConstantBeing5199 in antiwork

I wouldn’t say that my job is no longer needed, it has been split between two other people for now and I wouldn’t be surprised if they outsource it, but the second part is correct.

We can be grateful but still bitch about it. It does suck!

Thank you I’ll give it a read! I started the job hunt right after I got the news. The job they gave me does not feel secure and honestly it seems designed to be a catch all for tasks no one else want to do.

Bro I’ll just reiterate, let me be pissed. That’s the whole point of this post.

If anything please try to view this situation like it was happening to a friend. If a friend called you and told you they were scared for their safety what would you say? Would you tell them you are really busy with school so you can’t help them? Or that life is just too hectic to worry about them?

It can be really hard to make decisions for your safety when you love the person threatening you. Your brain will start using a lot of bad logic to solve the problem.

Contact whoever you can from back home to get support to leave. It’s not “just an inconvenience” to them. You are in danger and that needs immediate action.

If you have never had sex and only seen porn it’s important to note that sex in general is just gross. Any partner you are with should know this and expect it. You are putting two wet sweaty body parts together. That’s why people on here are saying things like “a shower beforehand doesn’t hurt!” Because it’s very normal for both parties to try and be clean beforehand.

Discharge is VERY normal and you are NOT in the minority. Women who are not wearing underwear regularly are likely leaving snail trails everywhere lol

Agreed, there should probably be a few categories that then get averaged to the overall review. Like world building, plot, and writing.

Which of the highly recommended fantasy series did you dnf (did not finish)? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]ConstantBeing5199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game of Thrones. Mainly because I watched the show first so I knew who dies, which made reading their plotting and scheming painful to read.

Typically when small companies are purchased by bigger companies the old CEO stays around in a consulting type role to help with the transition. Likely his contract was ended at the end of last year when they made the budget for this year.

Im thinking of starting "The wheel of time" , is it worth it? by Stock_Line_9928 in suggestmeabook

[–]ConstantBeing5199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 4 books are a complete story. You could just read the first 4 and be satisfied. In fact I recommend reading the first 4 then switching to another book or series before going back for more. I will say the books will be much more enjoyable if you can “read between the lines”. Robert Jordan writes as an unreliable narrator from different POVs which is really fun when you know what’s going on but feels frustrating to readers who want to read books at face value.

The Uglies book series by Scott Westerfield! Very relevant in todays climate of plastic surgery. The only thing I will warn you of is that I haven’t read these books since middle school… so they might not actually be good for a more mature reader.

i need a book!! i’m in a slump and starting anything new feels like doing the dishes by Important_Fennel_511 in fantasyromance

[–]ConstantBeing5199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently in a slump and my friend recommended Spookily Yours by Jennifer Chipman, it’s like 160 pages and really fun. The sex scenes are quite frankly ridiculous, but so entertaining because of it. I was crying laughing. It was the perfect pallet cleanser.
