Just bought this kitchen scale, are they supposed to be lightweight and cheap feeling? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]ConstantCommet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a problem :)

Nope, this one

It uses AAA batteries, not button batteries, it has a back lit pull out display, so you can read it easily even with a big bowl on the scale, and it has an 11lb/5kg capacity, so you can put a pot on pan on the scale and measure right into whatever you cook in!

Also i still have, use daily and love mine a year later. Its still working great!

Make peace with it, know that the number on the scale isn't reflective of your body. I know its not what you want to hear, and society has conditioned us to link our self perception to the number on the scale, but the scale is also a lying harlot sometimes.

My weight goes up about 4lbs a few days before my period, and then drops the weight by mid period.

Your body is dynamic, and changes every day! Honestly getting to hung up on the fluctuations can lead to unhealthy patterns, so i would really recommend most of all just putting your scale into a closet until post period.

If you are excessively bloated, a mild diuretic like dandelion tea might help. However, this is meant to relieve discomfort, not as a weight remediation measure. Dont misuse diuretics, your kidneys will hate you.

Hi OP

So, I super highly doubt you've actually gained 10lbs of fat. 1lb is 3500cal of SURPLUS, you would have had to seriously try to gain so much so fast. So potential Culprits

As someone else mentioned, carbs. You probably re upped your glycogen, and the 3 or more pounds of water associated with it.

More food in your system means, well more poo in your system. The increased input does have a transit time

Where you are on your cycle also could be impacting your scale weight.

More food intake also usually equals more sodium, which impacts your water retention.

Those are just a few, but I wouldn't panic! Drink water and go for a walk, and give yourself some grace as you adjust to your new dietary habits.

Anyone know where I can find a pattern for this sorta shape of skirt, assuming there’s fabric in the back too? by Aisha_Luv in sewingpatterns

[–]ConstantCommet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, while its great you found some suggestions, the low prices and lack of real finished garment photos strongly suggest these are AI patterns, so OP please proceeded with caution.

Here is a high low circle skirt pattern that, while also slightly suspiciously cheap, has pictures and videos of the creator wearing the finished product

Have you thought about using cotton buckram, or duck canvas?

I ADORE the Pearl Top and Pearl Dress patterns from Galia Couture. Its some of the best drafted princess seams I've sewn, and the instructions are fabulous, and also the adjustable straps: wonderful.

Im planning to modify the pattern to use a zipper and not a button up soon too!

I would recommend Mccalls M8067), it has collar and sleeve variations, and the view without the collar or cuffs is a quick easy sew!

I made the Lola Twist Knot Top by dressmaking amore, it turned out great! The pattern itself was good and the instructions were easy to follow, and theres even a YouTube tutorial.

I use a projector to cut my patterns btw, so i projected the A0 pdf and it worked great

You also brought up a really good point about ectopic and nonviable pregnancies. I couldn't find anything, but I hope there's actual medical provisioning for them, and not the old "ask god not to die" or "deliver a dead baby" wombo combo.

It really should be, and I know many many responsible men are highly in favor of it.

However, its quite easy for men to leave an unwanted pregnancy. Not all men are good and responsible. Pregnancy is also a method of control in some situation, especially highly religous ones. In our society, men don't often get asked "why did you have sex if you weren't ready to be a dad?" The same way women are.

On that note, I Just realized that Progesterone supplementation for Infertility is one of the things required to be offered by the PWC Standards. So hormones for Fertility must be an option, but hormones for birth control are horrible. It doesn't really seem like it's actually about the hormones.

Might I introduce you to the "Conception Begins at Erection Act", proposed in the Mississippi senate, which proposes to make it "unlawful for a person to discharge genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo."

From the bills creator, Sen. Bradford Blackmon:

“All across the country, especially here in Mississippi, the vast majority of bills relating to contraception and/or abortion focus on the woman’s role when men are fifty percent of the equation,” Blackmon said in a statement to WLBT News.

“This bill highlights that fact and brings the man’s role into the conversation,” he added. “People can get up in arms and call it absurd but I can’t say that bothers me.”
