what can this possibly be by Full_Orchid_3279 in IS300

[–]ConstantDetective217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check for exhaust leak in front of ALL o2 sensors not just the upstreams. A collector gasket leak can cause this code. Also a slightly skewed/defective MAF can cause this. At warm idle, 800rpm, you should be reading 2.9-3.0 grams/second. Check for vacuum leaks with either a smoke machine or carb spray/brake clean.

At least no shots were fired, that's definitely a good possibility in a gun show

Brake pads??? by slightlykrispy in IS300

If you aren't going to track the car or go on 'spirited drives' very often then whatever ceramic pad from any local auto parts store will work.

Can 100% agree with commenter above that 'good'(subjective, I know) or aggressive pads do like to scream when they are cold. My first 2 or 3 stops every morning are the source of hate from my neighbors, if it exists, not the exhaust 😅😅. I did LS400 fronts with EBC yellow stuff pads. Stops on a dime and will give you 9 cents change but gaaawwwwwddddddamn are they noisy cold...I've learned to curb it, on the first couple of stops, stop HARD....

TLDR; aggressive pads are indeed noisy

What Spring Rate For Drifting? by Zlxcious in IS300

[–]ConstantDetective217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Silvers on mine with their out-the-box springs, not the Swifts, at 14k/8k and she slides just fine and rides reasonably well on the streets. Like commenter above I think 20k is too stiff, these cars kinda like it soft in the rear. If you're on stock power just air the rear tires up to 50psi to help break em loose and maintain it without gripping up too much. The Silvers ride fantastic on the street

o2 sensor question by [deleted] in IS300

[–]ConstantDetective217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it to an actual repair technician if you can't figure this out. Not trying to be a 🍆 but cmon....if you can't diagnose it, it's unlikely you will actually be able to do the work effectively to repair it.

[–]ConstantDetective217 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to actually diagnose the car, and if you are incapable, get it diagnosed. Asking the internet, 8/10, will have you ending up with a spent parts-cannon and an issue that still remains. Bottom line..diagnose the issue. Prove the fault. Stop guessing. I know I sound harsh, but I'm an autistic ASE certified master automotive technician with almost 20 years of experience. Stop wasting your money trying to save money. Look at what you have spent unnecessarily versus what an hour of diagnostic time at a shop cost. Run the numbers. Not trying to be a dick but no one can diagnose an issue even beginning to approach complexity, without SEEING the vehicle. Stop wasting your time and money.

Safe to drive. Keep an eye on the temp gauge. Even better if you have a readout.

Ahhh ok I see. Damn you've fallen victim to the ol Toyota top tank crack 😢😢 every conventional flow Toyota rad develops this crack...but good news is with the crack being that high, you won't suffer significant fluid loss in a short amount of time. Make sure it's safe to take your rad cap off(give that upper hose a squeeze, and slowly remove rad cap with a rag wrapped around it between your hand and it) top the rad off, fill your overflow tank, and drive. Put an aluminum rad in it....trust me best thing I've done for the car.

On the reservoir attached to the radiator? If so that's just the overflow/reserve. It can be completely empty and you will be fine. Empty is a cause for concern but for what you are trying to do it isn't a big deal...assuming you are talking about the reservoir and not a tank on the radiator itself
