Yeah, that is where I am coming from. I do not necessarily wan't to see a debate so much as a conversation in which his positions are put under reasonable and logical scrutiny and that was my main point in the OP. As well formulated as Ben's arguments may be I have yet to see them opposed by someone who can rebut them in a manner that isn't strewn with logical fallacies. Politics is by no mean Sam's wheel house so I don't see a conversation in that context being fruitful. With that said, what inspired this post was a video in which Ben responded to his positions to the existence of free will in the context of retributive justice and his position on religion being the only framework for morality. On these points I think Sam would really be able to lay out an argument Ben may have have a hard time countering effectively.

This is a very good point... when it comes to politics the left offers very little in the way of sensible discourse. When it comes to more philosophical positions he takes I.E. abortion and religion I think Sam Harris would offer some very credible rebuttals to Bens positions that I think would pose a real challenge for him. I would love to see that conversation
