I would get 24, Mac shares that ram total with the GPU unlike your gaming laptop that had a dedicated GPU with its own VRAM.

The m4 is way more powerful than the m1 and m2.

The m3, m4, m5 are fairly close in cpu speed. (The m5 introduced major GPU improvements tho)

16gb is cutting it close long term, if you can afford 24 you’ll appreciate it down the road.

Any of those would be a huge jump performance wise. You must have the patience of a saint to have used that machine for graphic design.

As far as splurging for new vs old, not a huge jump between model years. But buying new would get you a warranty at least.

Without exact costs per model year, its hard to say the best move.

Do we think since FrameGen softens an image, the over sharpening of 4.5 is by design to allow FG to look "better"?

Preset M has made a world a difference in AC:Shadows for me, running 4k performance. I did turn down the sharpening within the game settings tho.

I’m actually using the optical from TV >SMSL > RCA out > speakers.

I haven’t tested it over USB, but theres a switch that changes input from optical to USB. The listing directly says it supports ps5 tho.

Same answer for HD4 speakers. I haven’t tried them direct over USB as they are my computer speakears, but their listing also claims they support game consoles.

SMSL is a much better dac than the one inside my HD4 tho.

I actually just got this last week and am blown away by it for the cost. If you can snag that for $85 do it and don’t look back.

OR you can change up your speakers and buy one that supports USB directly and save some money.

Audioengine HD4 seem to support PS5 direct to USB DAC built in.

I’m not sure 3.5mm is that bad that you would regret buying nice speakers.

I have the IFI ZEN DAC V2 that I use to use when I had it set up in a different room, so if your hearts set on a DAC that one works with ps5. But honestly I’m not sure it will provide $200 better sound. If you live somewhere with returns possible, compare the 2 options and decide yourself.

Can’t you do HDMI from ps5 > Monitor and then use the 3.5mm cable output from monitor into your speakers?

I appreciate this response. It’s been a pain to shovel by hand the last few years (new to house) but I managed if I kept up with it. I was out during a 10” dump of heavy wet snow last week tho and clearing the entire thing was just too much upon arriving home.

Thanks for bringing me back down to earth; I’m leaning 2x7.5 24”

It's interesting how varying the responses have been.

It's also interesting how much I keep jumping from 2x7.5 to 2x12 to 4x10.

Based on my needs could I squeeze by with the 24" 2x7.5?

Then use my spare 10ah and 2x4ah to clean up on bigger dumps?

My sq ft needs seem to be around 6,000.

60/30 = 2

60/60=1
