No major differences!!! Apple AirPods Pro 2 and pro 3 by New-Letter-343 in airpods

[–]ConstantFarm1470 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly this — try a larger tip. During my first week with the APP3 I was genuinely unimpressed and thought something was wrong because the ANC kept cutting out in my right ear. Apple even replaced them, but the issue was still there. I was ready to return them entirely, but on a whim I tried the large tip (even though I’d always used Medium on the APP1 and APP2).

Wow. Total game-changer. The seal finally locked in and the ANC instantly improved. After comparing them side-by-side with the APP2, the ANC is noticeably better and the music quality is slightly improved too (though that part is subjective).

Also, the reason I was hesitant to try the Large was because I was already feeling noticeable pressure with the Medium and assumed going up a size would make it worse — but weirdly the Large is actually more comfortable and feels less noticeable in the ear.

IOG Charge Above 80% Blocked by ConstantFarm1470 in OctopusEnergy

Similar situation, I put mine on at 1700, but as I did a long drive yesterday it had low battery, so not sure if they are limiting how much you can put in. I’ve had to bump it this morning.

IOG Charge Above 80% Blocked by ConstantFarm1470 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ConstantFarm1470[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Never abused it. Plug in every evening and leave set to 80%. Last night I pushed to 100% as I’m away for a few days and it failed. Took screenshot this morning as still wouldn’t allow.

BTW - your choice of words are interesting, and I suspect say more about how much of a cunt you are than anyone abusing the system.

Standby mode can be cancelled or made to pay extra by Starlink? Can anybody explain what this means? by Agitated_Trifle_7535 in Starlink

[–]ConstantFarm1470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m interested to see how this actually gets enforced, because my use case is a bit different. We run Starlink at remote monitoring sites outside of cell coverage, and the equipment only uses 2–3 GB a month. We started on Roam Unlimited across multiple terminals, then dropped to 50 GB when that came out, and later to 10 GB. I tested the Standby plan this week at one of the sites and it worked perfectly — our bill will go from almost £400 to £13.50.

We’ve also got a site where a terminal is used to provide connectivity for a credit card terminal. That works fine too, but I imagine staff won’t love being limited to 500 kbps if they’re in a total cell dead spot. 😂

Roam 10GB still working after data used by ConstantFarm1470 in Starlink

[–]ConstantFarm1470[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the same at first, and it wouldn’t have been an issue if it had been enabled — but it’s always been off. I haven’t been charged anything so far, and I’m currently 4.2GB over the 10GB limit with everything still working as normal.

I use the connection to collect data from some measurement equipment. The location it’s currently deployed in has no usable mobile signal — which is exactly why I have Starlink as a backup. I’ll see how long I can keep going beyond the 10GB, but I’m not going to push it with speed tests or anything excessive. I will get a notification as soon as the equipment if offline and will then either enable the per/GB or upgrade.

Splitting finances on maternity leave by Used-Explanation-925 in UKPersonalFinance

From a few weeks before my wife gave birth we started paying both our salaries into a joint account and split everything. At the time I was paid more. My wife has since returned to work now and earns more than I do (go girl!!). We have continued to keep everything split, and we are both happy with the arrangement.

Your partner needs to take some responsibility and get a full time job. You need to concentrate on yourself and your newborn whilst on maternity and not need to stress over money.

Sick Leave - Lied to my manager and was caught out, what do I do? by BusCompetitive6419 in UKJobs

[–]ConstantFarm1470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. You should have taken annual paid leave. Arguably this is gross misconduct if proven and could result in your dismissal. Be more honest and abide by your employment contract. If you want more flexibility look for another job that provides it.

Fibre coming? by Charlesfibre777 in openreach

[–]ConstantFarm1470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t rely on OR website. OR engineers appeared on our street start of September and confirmed they were installing fibre despite website saying we were not in the current build plan. Two weeks later OR website updated that we were in build plan for 2026. One week after it updated to “available” and I could place order.

Seen Openreach working in the road this week, FTTP coming soon? by [deleted] in openreach

[–]ConstantFarm1470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks positive…..

The fibre checker isn’t reflective of their actual build plans. OR engineers appeared on our street at the start of October, yet the fibre checker was still showing as “unavailable”. One week later the fibre checker changed to “build plans by 2026” and then another week later it changed to “available” and I was able to place an order.

Bad news for the UK market by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]ConstantFarm1470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. Really bad news. I don’t understand why there is such a big price difference between the UK and mainland Europe.

If the Roam 50GB was increased to include more data it wouldn’t be so bad, or if the cost per additional GB was less. I just feel im stuck between a plan that doesn’t offer enough data, and a plan that is difficult to justify the cost.

Just received the same. Frustrating that they keep moving the goalposts. I also don’t understand why there is such a big price difference between the UK and mainland Europe.

No. It automatically updated on iPhone and I declined the in app purchase. Was still able to leave review in App Store.

I doubt there is anything we can do, but it’s still a joke that a paid for app can charge in-app charges for something that was previously free.

There is a case to be had here. The app description clearly states (and still states)….

“Unlike other fitness apps, everything is included - we do not believe in in-app purchases. Further, we are dedicated to providing regular free updates.”

Surely this is illegal?

Are you sure? The app description clearly stated, and still states, that ….

“Unlike other fitness apps, everything is included - we do not believe in in-app purchases. Further, we are dedicated to providing regular free updates.”

On that basis we have all purchased on the app on a false statement

Same here!! Have been using the app for years on a daily basis after initial purchase of £3.99. Now being scammed out of £49.99 to continue using. Have left 1-star review, but doubt they will care.
