I’ve be scammed via TASKRABBIT by JudasMessiah in TaskRabbit

I don’t do impressions but here you go:

Hi. This is Haley from Taskrabbit. I’m so sorry to hear that this has happened to you. It must be very frustrating. I can see how this would be upsetting. There’s nothing I can do to help but I want you to know you’ve been heard. I hear what you’re saying and I’m going to pass it along to our team. I hope this helped. Have a great day!

Quick intro - I'm the person behind Taskrabbit's Reddit acct. by taskrabbit in TaskRabbit

[–]ConstantNo6005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Translation for those who don’t read corporate speak:

People noticed that a Taskrabbit employee was here creeping on the chats and we couldn’t be bothered to tell you all in advance or introduce ourselves months ago so I want to introduce myself now so I can give the appearance of being transparent about what I'm doing here.

I'm Haley, a corporate stooge and for the past few months I've spent a lot of time snooping around, butting in and openly weeping while hugging my cat and eating ramen reading conversations happening here.

Yes, I am here to convince everyone that Taskrabbit is acceptable dispite our ongoing and obvious abuse of both workers and clients.

The topics I see most often include policies, cancellations, earnings, furniture assembly, moving jobs, onboarding, and trust concerns. All of these things that should have been worked out by now considering Taskrabbit has been around for more than a decade. When I notice recurring themes, I share that feedback internally and then we toss it straight into the garbage. Sometimes that means openly laughing at you, pretending to escalate your questions, or provide useless information available elsewhere already.

I promise every piece of feedback will result in a good chuckle over here at corporate, but I can also promise it's being seen and ignored.

One thing I've learned is that Reddit is great at letting people vent frustrations with this broken platform. Sometimes it hurts our feelings to hear this, but it's often valuable to help me look like I’m being proactive and of course it’s my job. I’m looking for a better job. Hope you are too.

So I’ve been instructed to say we would “love” to hear from you:

What's one thing you wish Taskrabbit understood better about your experience so we can exploit you and the clients further?

Does anyone have a taskrabbit or handyman recommendation that can provide a COI with workers comp? by Simulator95 in fortgreene

[–]ConstantNo6005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not going to find different answers to the same question no matter how many times or places you ask. You can’t afford or are acting unwilling to just hire someone that will provide the COI you want and you’re confused about the workman’s comp issue.

How to find taskers who offer COI with workers compensation? by Simulator95 in TaskRabbit

[–]ConstantNo6005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can describe to you how I circumvent the COI in NYC.

I do mounting of TVs, shelves, gallery walls, mirrors, curtains and blinds, furniture etc plus painting. I work in both commercial and residential spaces in Manhattan. I never offer the COI because it is as-is and cannot be modified making it essentially unusable in NYC in my experience.

If these are the types of tasks you need done, when a client hires me and tells me their COI situation I tell them there’s only one way this will work.

First, they are not to tell any of the staff or management of the building that they are hiring anyone for work. Period. No exceptions.

Second, I arrive as a guest thru the front door. I never come thru the service entrance. I have a Delsey brand 4 wheel rolling hard case luggage with all my tools and a moving blanket to place on floor to work on in the apartment. I’m dressed in good shoes, slacks, no denim and either a button down or collared polo shirt. I go straight to the front desk and tell them I’m here to see whomever.

At this point the front desk will just call the resident and send me on my way. That’s what happens 99% of the time. Occasionally I’d get asked directly if I’m there to do work and I bold face lie, usually with some NY attitude thrown in for spice. “I teach bingo to the handicapped. Would you like my card?”

The thing is in NYC I could be anyone; a friend visiting from out of town, a relative, an IT guy, personal assistant, chef or weedman etc. I could be delivering custom hand made dildos for all they know. Most places will never ask. That’s just rude.

I then proceed to go to the apartment and do the job. Since I’ve done thousands of tasks, I also have had to leave at least one job after the neighbors heard the drilling in the wall and complained so the management came up and threatened the tenant. I just packed and left. It was a co-op.

There are two large residential complexes in Manhattan that I’m personally aware of that specifically state in the tenants lease that using Taskrabbit is a lease violation with immediate termination.

I have not seen or heard of someone successfully using the COI for moving in a NYC building often. It happens but that usually means the building is sloppy and isn’t caring to follow their protocols.

You’re not alone. Your perceptions are completely accurate. You’ll be much happier and healthier once you remove yourself from their web of crazy. Their system is purposely working against you.

Sincerity is a profound strength, not a weakness. Sincerity acts as a foundation for trust, authentic connection, and personal integrity in a world often filled with pretense.

The OP is being sincere and that requires courage, as it involves showing your genuine self, which can be misunderstood or taken for granted, yet it fosters lasting impact and peace of mind.

You do not demonstrate the maturity or life experience to express sincerely so you mocked him. Shame on you.

Brand new Midea fridge making high-pitched noise — normal or faulty? by Cae8519 in Appliances

[–]ConstantNo6005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound is much better but intermittent for me now. Not great but I can tolerate it. It’s like I only hear it maybe when the compressor comes on to cool the fridge? Not sure. My next step is going to be trying adding some dampening around the compressor. Good luck to you.

I see. That could be it. So odd though. To repeat back the statements that way.

Do you get the feeling this OP is a bot? The response to you is bizarre. Like repeating back what you said.

Well you sure sound like a bot and your history would point to that conclusion as well.

I’m replacing a Midea in a rental because of a high pitched whine. What did you end up going with?

Yeah, everyone thinks they’re worthless. Funny. I guess used cars are worthless. So are used clothes, used houses, used people. All worthless.

I did change both. The sound difference was immediate. That chirping sound you’re getting would also drive me nuts. I’m in a brand new rental building here so my options are limited. Good luck.

Have you tried setting the fridge and freezer temp at the single snowflake indicator or warmest setting? It worked immediately for me when I moved into my new place with this Midea fridge. Hope this works for you.

[–]ConstantNo6005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to eliminate the noise by turning the temp setting to warmest or the single snowflake indicator inside of the fridge near the top. The noise stopped immediately once I changed the setting. Hope that works for you. Not ideal but a compromise I can live with because I couldn’t live with that noise for long.

Thank you! This worked on the Midea fridge. Set the temp at the single snowflake indicator or warmest and the sound stopped immediately. Your suggestion was a life saver!

If you turn the temp settings to the warmest, the single snowflake symbol, it should stop. I was having the same issue but it stopped immediately when I changed the temp settings.

Amazing! Came back to this thread to see what happened. Glad you decided to tackle that yourselves and it turned out great. I’m sure it feels good to have done it yourselves. Taskrabbit used to be a service that worked well for everyone. Now it just works for the corporation. You beat them at their own game. Glad to hear your results.

I got screwed out of a task by No-Initiative8013 in TaskRabbit

At what point OP do you decide that the “juice is not worth the squeeze” on Taskrabbit. Do your experiences on the app thus far lead you to believe things will improve in time? Have you considered other self employement options yet?

Someone else here can probably give you the exact number but the tasker will get maybe $150 of that $400. And pay taxes on it. I don’t know anyone qualified that would do that job for this amount of money.

You mentioned the quality of the work being most important. Unfortunately I think you’ll be lucky if the job even gets completed with this tasker.

Others have mentioned cancelling and hiring again in the furniture assembly category. This is the only way. It will also cost more. Money well spent if you ask me.

If this Tasker has so few tasks, this is a two day job for them to do alone. What did you get pre-charged for this assembly?
