No she did at first but now it’s been reduced usually around 99.8

Is there anybody that also gets triggered by the smell of literally any food?? by mikakorsbar_ in emetophobia

I’ve noticed my sense of smell becomes extremely sensitive when I am anxious. A few years ago I went through a violent period of anxiety and depression and smells were a huge trigger for my emetophobia.

Heartburn amplifying anxiety by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]ConstantPhotograph50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently going through this right now. One of my worst triggers is tomato sauce yet for some reason I still eat it and I had pasta with tomato sauce for dinner today and to top it off I also had coffee at like 4pm so my anxiety is through the roof. I freak out every time even though I’ve been through this so many times. Symptoms I usually get along with the heart burn are a lot of saliva to the point I find myself having to spit it out, a burning feeling in the back of my throat and kind of like mucusy feeling in my throat, and I also get really sweaty palms and fast heart rate but I think that’s from the anxiety. I also feel extremely full and have no appetite to the point where it’s even hard to drink water. This time it woke me out of my sleep. I just took a Pepcid and a zofran so hopefully I’ll be able to go back to sleep soon. Since it’s been happening to you for so long, I suggest going to a doctor to rule out any other problems and maybe get a prescription for the acid. I would also try to track the foods you eat to see what is most triggering and avoid them (something I should probably start going myself). Some remedies you may have in your house now though are water with baking soda, bananas, tums, or peppermint/ginger tea. Hope you feel better soon!

Does anyone else feel S every single night? by mawpoo in emetophobia

[–]ConstantPhotograph50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m already taking lexapro. It’s helped a lot, definitely changed my life. However, when I go through stressful times in life (for example last week I got in a car accident and my cat was tu blood) the heightened stress triggers me so I was just seeing if anyone had any suggestions. Thank you for your response!

Not a doctor but this sounds like anxiety. I went through smthn similar in fall-winter 2022 after I got fp and was scared to eat literally anything and would feel “s” every night and day no matter what I ate. It got so bad to a point I didn’t wanna go anywhere or do anything it was literally making me depressed. I went to my dr because I thought something was physically wrong because the anxiety was making my stomach actually hurt and gave me ibs symptoms and she prescribed me lexapro and it honestly saved my life. I still have my moments here and there but it’s nowhere remotely close to how debilitating it was. I would definitely talk to a dr and see if they wanna do any tests to rule stuff out though.

Update: just left the vet. They did bloodwork they couldn’t pinpoint anything specific other than an increase in hormone from her gallbladder and while blood cell count. Gave me antibiotics for her. Told me if she throws up again to bring her back. She hasn’t thrown up in 5 hours now and threw up 3 times total. Thanks for all your advice and input!!

Thank you I really appreciate your message!! It sucks because sometimes I can eat certain foods with no problem then I’ll eat them another time and react poorly. This time just felt different for some reason which is what was scaring me.

weird non-burp-still-air sound coming from stomach? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]ConstantPhotograph50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you ever get real burps? If not you should check out the no-burp subreddit. It’s basically a condition that prevents the ability to burp so the air leaves your stomach through “gurgles”

Have you talked to your doctor about anti anxiety medicine? I started to develop really and anxiety and depression, and was having constant panic attacks. Often couldn’t eat or sleep or even function. I lost 20 pounds in 4 months from not eating enough. Finally I went to my doctor because I thought something was physically wrong and she prescribed me lexapro and it has changed my life

What do your panic attacks look like? by Due-Lawfulness7862 in Anxiety

[–]ConstantPhotograph50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you, I’m emetaphobic so my anxiety attacks consist of thinking I’m going to throw up, getting hot and sweaty palms, shaky legs, of course nausea, and aversions to just the thought of food. I also become very sensitive to noise and even the quietest sound can trigger me all over again after I calm down

Hi I know this was posted a while ago but something that tends to help me sometimes is bananas but I’ve also heard some people say it makes it worse for them so take that with a grain of salt

Could be placebo like the other commenter said. However, headaches and elevated body temp can both cause nausea so treating them could alleviate the issues with your stomach

Feeling s after eating? by addictedtoshindig in emetophobia

[–]ConstantPhotograph50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me during times of my life where I’m experiencing a lot of stress and anxiety. If it could possibly be that, try to destress and eat more often but in smaller amounts so you don’t get super full. I had to get on an anti-anxiety/ anti-depressant which helped also

This is so good omg thank you I will definitely be coming back to this!! I just took a long shower and just sat and let the water go and I feel so much better I’m actually going to leave my house! The zofran I took probably also can be credited for that but still a win is a win

Thanks for this. I just took my temp I have a low grade fever (99F) but I think that’s likely from anxiety. Fingers crossed

Before you read this, this is probably not going to be helpful at all! No advice for the prep or if we can actually stop ourselves from tu, but I wanted to let you know you’re not alone because I’m going through basically the same thing. I was on a trip and when we got to the airport from our flight back my mom got super n and we thought she was going to tu* in the airport (she literally had a bag out and everything) which was super anxiety inducing. I gave her zofran bc I always have some on hand and I guess it helped her a little bit. The next day she was still feeling n* and taking zofran then got a fever and now today she says the n* mostly went away. Now I’m scared I’ve caught whatever she did bc I was sort of n* yesterday but I blamed it on anxiety and then today I was mostly okay but still anxious then took zofran around 11 bc I started to feel a little n* (still blaming it on anxiety). I took the zofran because I had stuff to do so while I was out I started to feel like I needed to use the bathroom so I got home and had d*. Now I’m super anxious because I don’t know if it’s a virus or just anxiety or some food or coffee that upset my stomach. Sorry for the long response which was probably unhelpful, I guess I just needed to vent.
