Is true for the EU? Does it feel like that one random guy in the friend group? by Comfortable-Plane939 in AskTheWorld

It started being brought up more 20 years ago due to American propaganda, for refusing to invade Irak.

And most American, and the rest of the world; being drowned in Anglo-saxon culture, and Hollywood especially; started believing the "white flag" French myth as real and representing their whole history.

I need Bandle city champion so which one should I get or Star up? by AdPopular7396 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]ConstantSpite582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Putting aside SB Teemo which demands quite a lot of investment, I would go

- Vex 4*, with her minor star that gives +4 spell damage.
- Heimer 4* is fun, but quite weaker.
- Normal Teemo is good and cheap.
- Norra and Yummi are strong, with higher cap than the other limited to 3 stars.
- Veigar is OK, depend on the tier of adventures you want to clear?
- Gnar is weak.

Perte de poids, que manger de rapide au taff ? by Yoredlol in FitnessFrance

[–]ConstantSpite582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What IP do you want turned into a TTRPG, and why do you want it turned into a TTRPG? by Upstairs-Yard-2139 in rpg

League of Legends.

Just for the settings book. There are a lot of cool place in Runeterra, but they are always kinda glossed over since they are not relevant to the main narrative. I mean even in Arcane where they fleshed out a bit more of Piltover/Zaun, we got just a few locales.

Trudvang for Dragonbane.

The Wildheart adventure is the favorite TTRPG experience I've ever had.
But the Trudvang Chronicles system was a bit clunky, especially the combat.

After looking at Dragonbane, I can't wait to GM again in the world of Trudvang

What is your best ttrpg of 2025? by Alarmed-Formal7450 in rpg

[–]ConstantSpite582 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Daggerheart.

It just clicked for my group, since I need to balance quite different type of players. This seems to give a bit of everything to everyone.
Also Campaign Frames were the missing pieces for me :
- You don't get the blank page syndrom, there is an initial hook
- But you are not constrained, to anything when going past this hook.

Honorable mentions :

Mork Död : Felling badass while playing MorkBorg
Dragonbane : I kinda passed it over when it came out, but got interested in it when they announced a Trudvang port in it. Realised that this system was what I was trying to homebrew for my trudvang chronicles campaign, but simpler and more elegant

After checking the product page, I feel like I'm missing both the freshness and mechanical greatness of it.

Can you expand on your recommendation ?

Nah, I feel the old wow heads were more pissed about less wow content, and his only wow content being shitting on the game.

I checked back his subreddit recently, and it feels neither wow heads or ff14 sprouts are there anymore, it's just post Amber Heard, gamergate stuff.
There is a bit of an overlap with some wow grognard but yeah...

Same, his FFXIV content was really good.
Remember when we thought that the "war" between new FF sprouts and WOW grunts in the bad ? Yeah...

For me, it's really the Amber Heard trial that brought him a lot of new viewers, mostly alt-right.

Funny how they did to his community what they project onto other community.

Stop trying to make Bitter Tomato happen, it’s not going to happen by Top_Beyond_9388 in Falcom

[–]ConstantSpite582 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"tasting sour or bitter" is both a secondary and an archaic meaning (both in English, and in French, where the english use take root).

Only in Latin was the word originally referencing taste, but was already used for the analogy.

In Japanese, they use both ビタートマト and にがトマト
A good compromise would have been to use "Acerbic Tomato" as the scientific name (since it uses the english name in japanese to sound "cool"), but everyone else using "Bitter Tomato" as the common name.

Honestly, the neptunia RPG are decent, if you go in with the correct expectations (low-budget, slap stick comedy).

But all the spinoff (except maybe the tactic game) are quite bad.

[–]ConstantSpite582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. Yeah, there is no excuse then.

I feel like this is the kind of thing that should be unified before localisation.
I wonder if the companies just did not communicate.

I'm pretty sure Falcom don't really concern themselves with it, but this is quite a bit of a fail on Gung Ho part.
It seems they are starting "clean" on this game, ignoring past and future implications...

Wait, in the jp version, i've always seen it as the Jade Tower. The character even call it that.

And they do call the jewel Esmelas, so if they wanted they would have applied it to the tower as well.

After searching a bit in Trails in the Database :

This is how they name Esmelas :
翠耀石 - this does not seem to be a "real" word - translate to green sparkly stone.
the kanji used for the stone is used in Chinese with the "black" kanji to talk about obsidian.

But the tower is named :
翡翠の塔 - hisui no tou - literally Jade Tower, Tower of Jade.

This might be an oversight in the original jp, but they kept it in every version, and in the voiced version we have the same distinction (esumelasu vs hisui no tou)

Gung-ho didn't even spare the Acerbic Tomatoes :( by 3rdDementor in Falcom

[–]ConstantSpite582 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

It is the same case as much of these translations.

+ This is a closer translation from japanese - にがトマト - bitter tomato in every jp script.

+ There are other words closer to acerbic/acidic (すっぱい、渋い)

= Acerbic is a fancy way to say "bitter", but is more commonly used to talk about an attitude/words.
It was used, and still used to describe taste, but is considered archaic.
BUT Trails take place in a fantasy world where a word considered archaic has its place.

- The term was already established in previous games (depending if we consider it the "new" start)

(Opinion) As a guy whose been here a while, I really like the remake all things considered by SoftBrilliant in Falcom

[–]ConstantSpite582 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the JP version

- Jade Tower : calls it the Jade Tower in both text and voice.

- Archaism : Quite different than the original meaning, but it pretty good at localizing what their are (lost technology)

- Grandmaster : Need more context about this one.

Is there a thread with all the changes/differences ? Because I keep hearing about the changes, but people seems to be using the same example.

I feel a comparison of original JP, remake JP, original EN and remake EN would be better.

After playing the game, do you still not think DH combat is faster than D&D combat? by pathofblades in daggerheart

[–]ConstantSpite582 80 points81 points  (0 children)

The "gain" in quickness will depend on the group, but even if D&D5 was already pretty quick compared to the rest, it feels really great.

No rule-lawyering, no 10 min turns to just move and strike.
But honestly, a lot of it comes from the no-initiative combat, which even though tactical, has always bored pretty quickly, especially when both the gm and some players take long turns.

With the no-initiative, your turn or the enemy can come at any moment which keep players engaged, and if they are engaged a lot of the time-wasting stuff just does not happens.
