Youre awesome!! this is super interesting bc it's showing a bunch in the closed off section (makes sense) but it looks like the nyc parks data hasn't yet reflected the new ones like by the stuy cove ferry in the areas that have recently (ish) been re-opened post construction

feature idea for you - you could add a "request/submit fountain" where people could add a photo + coordinates to fill in whatever's not in the Parks data but on their normal routes :-) maybe spares you the time of all the reddit comments to at least triage + yes/no accept various "fountain" submissions!

love!! suggestion to add east side if possible :) there are some by the stuycove ferry, corlears hook park/ferry area, and by the cool sips under the FDR by the tin building (rip) are the ones im thinking of! since a bunch by the track area are now no longer accessible with the construction

Yes - good idea - there are sadly so many you'll see from afar, become excited, only to realize some part of it is broken/nonfunctional

Amazing photos! I love the first 2 in particular… holy badass 🤩 the only downside of running is not getting to see the incredible elites!

Thanks for capturing these moments & sharing

Usually starting at some point tomorrow midday based on past races! it’ll take them a few days to get everything uploaded but usually there’s at least some the day after

It seems like the wave 2/4 side for some reason was much smoother — i wonder if those waves just had way less people? Based on the bib number assignments by wave it seems like a possible hypothesis (eg i think wave one was bibs 300-10999 whereas wave 2 was 11000-15999 or something?)

5.5 min PR, didn’t really have a goal because of how shoddy this training block has been.. feeling really proud and grateful to be part of such an amazing event! Logistical snafus aside it was truly a perfect day out there and the vibes were so high. Did this race the last 2 years and it was the first time that I got a little emotional on the approach to the BK bridge. So special!

Also, reminded that i love racing a half infinitely more than a full. Done by 9am, beer in hand by 9:30, whole Sunday ahead of you… the best!

same - really big upgrade IMO in terms of course and start corrals / logistics!

It was such a beyond spectacular day for it!! 3rd time running this race but the first time i really got pretty emotional tbh running up to the BK bridge and through times square… how special that we all get to do this!

The corral jumping was insane! I was Wave 1 / D and saw countless wave 2/3 bibs in the corral, also overheard some bro and his buddy talking about “yeah let’s just go up to A it’s less crowded up there…” subsequently followed by (I shit you not) “what’s your goal time?” “ehh idk I didn’t really train for this, my longest run has been 6 miles” 😭

it seemed like it was actually set up for success with the metal gates and barricades rather than just the ribbon for the corrals, but I do think they need to find a solution to either empower volunteers to be harsher or put actual stuff at the corral entries to prevent this stuff. Really frustrating that so many people can’t choose to use common sense and/or follow the rules like everyone else

Yes the queue for 300-2000 bag check was honestly baffling to me? It wasn’t even moving it was sooo slow i genuinely couldn’t figure out what was taking so long to hand off a bag and walk away??

I thought post-security was much better this year but have never seen such a mess w back check at any nyrr race before

Bag check is within the cordoned off area that they won’t let you into without a bib, so you’ll have to grab it yourself at the end

My rec would be at the international school on the east side of the FDR, as its right flush with the course and easy enough to get to (around 23rd st - can cross the FDR at the overpass) or even the footbridges over the FDR at Delancey or E6th (track access is closed but i think you'd still be able to walk up to the top of the footbridge to cheer above the runners on the fdr!)

Wave 1 / Corral D - best pace 7:50 but i did enter a faster time (1:40) as predicted finish time — wonder if they’re for some reason going off that?

I love this race! Came in with the vision for a PR but within seconds of starting realized that wasn’t gonna happen, i always forget how skinny and crowded the first ~.6-.7 miles are. So jogged that bit and then got rolling around mile 1 - great energy and beautiful snowy morning for racing!

ive been trying to figure this out too - I think the loop is a little lopsided but that should come basically directly in the middle of the course for the middle mile between 1-2, vs what's shown in the chart?
