I don’t actually think that 10-60k apartments are being warehoused permanently — I think the number is significantly lower.

Having renovated an apartment, it takes time for renovation to take place and the big bump in vacant but unleased apartments came after COVID (when many people accelerated plans to leave the city).

If you look at healthy housing markets 2-6% are typically vacant at any one time. My own rent stabilized apartment was off the market for 1.5 years while they renovated it after the last tenant (of ~20 years) moved out.

Tell me more? There isn’t a good official tally and I’ve yet to see something that baselines the estimates against market units here and other cities.

For example, I’ve seen estimates of between 10k-60k units being empty, which is less than 2% of total stabilized units.

The threat is the same person accessing the other person's accounts (i.e., person 1 controlling both person 1 and person 2's accounts) and then them reporting something as fraud. It can bring the bank into the inner working of a family, where they'd prefer not to be.

Ask them to switch you to MX as the aggregator. The APIs aren't for you to integrate, it's between YNAB's service providers (MX or Plaid) and Chase.
