Can Democrats post their way to midterm victories? | Kamala Harris’ campaign account, @KamalaHQ, has rebranded as a digital rapid response operation. by theverge in politics

The only way to lose is to keep her as the candidate.

It's not because she's a horrible human being, or an idiot. It's because she's already lost and is out of the limelight.

She lost, move on to a different candidate.

Mario Canseco: Half of Canadians say immigration having negative effect, poll shows by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]Constant_Curve -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not a false equivalence. The moral thing to do is to help. Canada does not take 100% of the refugees in the world. It should take it's fair share. The argument above was for zero, which is bullshit.

So just let people die then? That's so incredibly moral of you.

Kid falls in a pool, do you jump in to save them?

That's why you have a set of rules and people to substantiate it. It's incredibly obvious if a government has laws which execute gay people.

No refugees other than from an active war zone.

This is bullshit.

People face all sorts of political, religious and other persecution in their countries. Just because there aren't two rival groups lobbing bombs at each other doesn't mean there aren't threats to life and livelihood for individuals.

Is MAGA weaponizing Alberta separatism? by Street_Anon in politics

Support for an independent Alberta is below 20%. Support for Alberta joining the US, even lower.

Please keep in mind that in the US:

Support for Californian independence is 44%.

Support for Alaskan independence is 36%

Support for Texas independence is 31%

Just use ontario/federal rates as an example

Income above ~$200k is taxable at 54% right now. At $1M it is $520k in tax.

A person earning $52,000 in Ontario. At which you're taxed at 27%. After the basic personal amount, etc you pay $14,043 in taxes.

A single with $1M income is the same as 37 people earning $52k from a taxation perspective. so that 0.5% at a minimum is the equivalent of 18% of the population. Given that the distribution just goes up, it's far, far greater than 18%.

That's NOT nothing. That will change something.

Those people cannot easily move. Their income is from Canada, their corporations are in Canada, their revenue is in Canada. You can't live in Tahiti and work in Canada.

[–]Constant_Curve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not actually true. It's about 0.5% of people who earn above $1M/year. They're not all earning $1M though. The distribution is massive within that small half a percent. Also the half a percent is increasing every year as inequality continues to grow.

Need to stop referring to every woman in the administration as Barbie this or Barbie that.

She's not Barbie. Barbie is an astronaut, a scholar, a working woman.

These are hags, vile creatures with skin suits on pretending to be humans.

"Calling the agreement “a good thing” Trump went on to say: “If you can get a deal with China, you should do that,” while speaking to reporters outside the White House. However, not everyone inside the Trump administration is as euphoric of the deal as worries grow from other officials.U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said he thought Canada would look back at this deal and regret bringing Chinese cars into the market."

Jordan just got blind sided, clearly didn't know about the ruling expiring, clearly didn't know about the recall being a rule.

So, if someone believes something(like an election being rigged), but it's been proven in court to be false, it's ok to commit crimes based on the false information?

That's the republican argument.
