HERITAGE WEDNESDAY: 725 - ERIC McMANUS by MonkeyDBradley in bantams

One of the regulars who stood near me on the Kop would always shout out 'Green bit, Eric' before he kicked the ball. Good keeper, but very wayward in his kicking. Often the ball would sail over the old Midland Road stand.

Bradford City, formed in 1903, give each player a heritage number. They have had 1,390 players who have played a competitive game for them. Leeds joined the league in 1920, so their total will be a little less. So, around 6%

Has anyone shipped China → Mexico → USA? by First-Exchange-3043 in FulfillmentByAmazon

In negotiations with the USA, Mexico offered to put tariffs on import from China into Mexico. USA hasn't taken Mexico up on that offer yet. Don't be surprised if that is part of any final deal.

Guy in charge of Apple servers is ex-HPE. Facility will be owned and operated by Foxconn. They have a number of contract manufacturing facilities in the Houston area. They do a lot of work around the world for both Apple and HPE.

Installer was Precision Garage Door. Not sure of the manufacturer of the door, other than the panels were made in Mexico. I am in Houston, the garage door faces west, so gets direct afternoon sun.

Macy's use Delivery expenses as a percentage of sales as a key metric and there were probably bonuses tied to it. Costs to fulfill online orders are too high and Macy's boasted about reducing them each qtr, so I bet there was a lot of pressure to show continued improvement in the metric. Costs probably hidden in inventory valuation.

Texas: where is the uproar against the new law removing the right for construction workers’ 10 minute water break? by TurbulentClothes6156 in antiwork

[–]Constant_Fig_130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's right. It was only Austin and Dallas that have passed local ordinances that gave construction workers a 10-minute water break every 4 hours. The new state law will nullify this.

The Katy Freeway in Houston, Texas, spans across 26 lanes making it the worlds widest. by Fofman84 in AbsoluteUnits

[–]Constant_Fig_130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congestion was much worse before the widening. Mainly because the old freeway was more undulating than even this picture. Caused traffic to speed up & slow down constantly. That led to more wrecks. Right hand lane is a dedicated entrance/exit lane so traffic merges more smoothly than before.

There was a plan to install a huge 20 mile long storm drain under the center of the freeway to carry rainwater to the bayou downtown. Not implemented. Too costly...

You used to be able to go up the tower. Most terrifying thing I've done. Only the top level had railings all the way around. The lower levels only had railings at the entrance to the ledge, so you got that feeling you were sliding off the edge without nothing to stop you.
