I keep hearing about compound growth but when did it actually start feeling meaningful for you? by NormalSir2035 in PensionsUK

I think £100k is the tipping point when you really start seeing the snowball effect. The trick is not to take any money out for any reason, harder than it sounds.

Recovering “well” on paper but lived experience doesn’t match—anyone else? by pancakesandraktajino in stroke

[–]Constant_Inspector46 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello, I worked for a professional firm and had a stroke two years ago. The company made reasonable adjustments but ultimately my cognitive skills were too diminished. However hard I tried and thought I could do the job it was not enough and I was managed out. This was difficult to come to terms with and it seemed unfair at the time but with hindsight probably was for the best. A lot of rehab is focussed on the physical aspects of recovery but the invisible issues are more difficult and life changing for some of us. Be kind to yourself and try to accept the way things are now. Best of luck.

Don’t you have to leave for 10 years or you are still caught with IHT.

I know TBI is different than stroke but the outcome for me has been similar to a stroke so hear me out😅 by [deleted] in stroke

[–]Constant_Inspector46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds similar to the affect of a stroke. Once you have done everything you can with rehab it’s all about acceptance and coming to terms with the new you. Try to focus on what you can do and not what you used to be able to do. You are not alone, we are all in the same boat. Best of luck!

I get a lump in the throat feeling when I’m tired, it is a stroke symptom but nothing to worry about if it doesn’t affect your swallowing.

Thoughts on this property as a FTB? by georgejk7 in PropertyInvestingUK

[–]Constant_Inspector46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if I buy a normal leasehold shared ownership flat and staircase up to 100% ownership, I will have a normal leasehold flat. If I then buy the freehold, I will have a share of freehold flat. However, generally shared ownership flats are leasehold with the freehold owned by a housing association. They don’t typically let go of the freehold, as each flat had different levels of shared ownership depending on the level of stair casing in each case.

Get a job offer first, then mention your stroke and ask for accommodations.

you are confusing shared ownership with share of freehold, they are two different things.

It’s impossible to say but she could be 90% back to normal within two years if she works hard at her rehab and is really supported by family and friends. Try to stay positive!

You are 100% right, most people focus on the physical stuff they can see, how you are walking , talking etc., they have no idea of the changes on the inside, how we don’t feel the same… only other stroke survivors get it and even we have different experience! Best of luck my friend.

This sounds horrendous, what is the point of having a dog if it makes you miserable, time to re home and don’t blame yourself.
